How to plant cabbage in open ground
In the middle zone of Russia, seedlings of early cabbagetry to land in late April - early May. Next planted seedlings of late cabbage - from mid-May to the end. The middle-aged cabbage should be planted later, the best time is considered the end of May - mid-June.
By the time you plant cabbage in the open ground, it should be this:
- early cabbage - 12-20 cm in height, with five or seven real leaves.
- medium and late cabbage - 15-20 cm in height, with four to six leaves.
The landing should be carried out to the depth to the firstfrom the real leaves, that is, the third one, if you count two cotyledons. When landing, it is necessary to make sure that the point of growth of the plant, that is, the last young leaves, is not overwhelmed by the earth.
The approximate scheme of planting is 70X30 cm or 50X50 cm. Too much planting should not be done - the cabbage will have large plants, and they will need a lot of space on the ground, like light.
Plant the plant better in the afternoon or in cloudy weather. When planting cabbage must be watered.
Some varieties of cabbage can be grown andin a nondestructive way, if the soils are well-cleared of weeds, precipitation falls regularly, and the climate is favorable. Sowing of plant seeds can be done directly into the soil, the depth is preferably 1.5-3 cm.
Timing for sowing should be selected early -Such cabbage is not afraid of frost. After the emergence of the shoots, it is necessary to thin the plants to a predetermined density of standing (between plants in a row should be approximately 40 cm). Care for such plants should be carried out the same as usual.
