How can others see your files when you connect to Wi-Fi?
Before connecting to a "hotspot" of Wi-Fi,for example in a cafe, double check the security settings of your computer. Public Wi-Fi networks operate on the same principle as home or office networks. This means that other users of these networks can see your shared files or folders. In order to protect your data from unauthorized persons, you need to take some security measures.
Instructions
1
Shared files. A computer running the Windows operating system by default has a shared folder called "Shared Documents". The files stored in this folder are available to other users over the network, which is convenient for sharing information. In the office, such a network is usually called a "working group", at home - "home group". In both cases, the files in the shared folder are automatically made available to others. If you select a specific type of network when connecting to a public Wi-Fi network, other people on the same network will be able to see your files in a shared folder using their Windows File Explorer computers.
2
Files outside the shared folder. No one can see files that are not in the shared folder, while you are connecting to Wi-Fi. You can transfer over the network only those files or folders that you decide to share with others.
3
