How to find the lost file

Very often we urgently need the files somewhere to disappear. We get scared and think that there is no way to find them. But actually finding a file is much easier than it seems.

How to find the lost file

Instructions

1

Search for a file by name. If you know exactly what the file is called, then the search will be fast. If you remember only part of the name, then this is quite enough - as a result of the search, all files that have these symbols in their name will be displayed. Click Start - Find - Files and Folders. First, it's better to use the most common search: select Files and folders. Enter the full name or part of it. By default, the search program searches all the disks of the computer at once, but if you know where the desired file might be, you can select the search location yourself. Click Find. As a result, files appear that match the search criteria. These files can be opened directly from the search window.

2

Search for a file by date. The more accurate the date, the more efficient and fast the search will be. Select Search documents (text files, spreadsheets, etc.). Next, select the date of the last changes in the file and click Search. Also, you can add additional search criteria, for example part of the name or an assumed location. Additionally, you can add the date the file was created. When you specify all that you remember about the file, including its size, click Find.

3

Search for a file by type. If you forget the file name, and also when you last used it, you probably remember the file type, for example, whether it was a spreadsheet or a text document. In this case, it makes sense to search by file type. Select the most common search - Files and folders. Next, select advanced search options. Select a file type from the list. You can also choose where to find this file. Click Find.

4

Search by file size. One of the most important characteristics of a file is its size. Most often this refers to music or video files. You need to enter a search criterion - the size of the file - and select the required list from the list.
