Like other phone models, a touchscreen smartphoneHTC connects to the computer with a USB cable. HTC has several modes for connecting to a PC. Also this smartphone can work as a wireless router.

Connection for viewing files

By default, the connection type "Charging only" is selected in the HTC settings. This means that when you connect the USB cable to the computer, the phone will only charge. But if you choose the type of connection "Drive", the smartphone will be simultaneously displayed on the computer, and be charged. On the computer, open the Computer window. In the menu "Devices with removable media" the name of the HTC Storage smartphone will be displayed. By opening the HTC Storage window, you can manage files and folders in your smartphone from your computer. If a memory card is installed in your phone, two removable devices will be displayed on your computer - HTC itself and a memory card. The memory card can be called "Removable Disk", or the name that you yourself gave it.

Connection for use as a modem

The HTC phone can also be used as amodem. To do this, in the settings for connecting to a PC, select the Internet modem connection type. At the same time on the computer you need to configure the connection through the smartphone, using the guidance of your mobile provider. If, on the contrary, you want to distribute the Internet from the computer to the smartphone, then in the settings, select the connection type "End-to-end Internet connection".

To do this, you need to turn on the phoneWi-Fi router. To enable the router, go to "Menu" and "Wi-Fi-router". The screen displays the instruction, press OK. Then click on "Mobile Wi-Fi-router". The router will turn on. To connect the computer to a mobile router, a Wi-Fi adapter must be installed and turned on in the computer. Often, the Wi-Fi adapter is initially installed in laptops. To enable the Wi-Fi adapter in Windows 8, go to the "Options" and "Modify PC Settings" menus. Find the item "Wireless". Move the switch to the "On" position. On some models of laptops there are external switches - buttons on the front panel. If your laptop has such buttons, find the button with the Wi-Fi icon or the corresponding image, and click. After turning on the Wi-Fi adapter in the connection menu, a new network will be displayed - HTC Portable Hotspot. Click "Connect". In the "Security code" field, enter the code that appears in the phone in the "Wi-Fi-router" menu.

The easiest way to connect your smartphone to a computer withusing a USB cable and via Bluetooth. The data transfer rate through the cable is higher. In addition, the phone will receive additional power, which is important for long-term connection, especially if the smartphone is used as a modem. But Bluetooth will not let you get confused in the wires - the phone can be freely moved within a radius of several meters.

Connect the smartphone to the computer with a USB cable - it is standard on the phone.

Select in the menu that appears on the phone screen,the desired connection mode. In the modes intended for viewing and transferring files, the phone communication functions will be unavailable. Conversely, when you connect your smartphone in telephony mode (to access the Internet), you will not be able to access your folders and files via Windows Explorer.

Install the drivers on the computer from the disk,enclosed in the box with the phone. If the disc is not included in the package, download the necessary software from the site of the manufacturer of your smartphone. The address of the web page should be indicated in the technical documentation.

Wait until the computer recognizes the device(a corresponding message appears in the lower right corner of the monitor). Work with phone files through the installed software or using Windows Explorer. Or create a new Internet connection.

Activate Bluetooth on the phone and on the computer. If you are using an external Bluetooth adapter on your computer, first install the software you need (the driver disk must be in the adapter box).

Find in the Control Panel of your computershortcut "Bluetooth Devices" or run the program that you installed for the external adapter. Select "Add a device". All available Bluetooth devices will be searched within a radius of 10-100 m from the computer.

Select the name of yoursmartphone. To activate the connection, set your own control code or confirm the code proposed by the system. In order to ensure that you do not have to constantly confirm all the operations that occur while transmitting data, adjust the settings for the Bluetooth connection.

View, copy and send files using Windows Explorer or through the files viewer of the smartphone itself. To connect to the Internet, configure the properties of the modem.
