How to print a photo on a T-shirt
A great and cheerful gift for a friend or a memberfamily - a T-shirt with his photo. However, it can be any other photo that you liked, from the person of a celebrity to the reproduction of a Dutch still-life. The main question is how to print a photo on a fabric?
There are several ways to apply images tothe cloth. Not all these methods can be repeated at home, because for them you need special equipment. Screen printing or silkscreen printing, sublimation, thermal transfer or digital printing. At home, you can use the last type of print.
What you might need
To print a photo on a T-shirt, youyou will need the following materials: T-shirt 100% cotton, preferably light or white, digital version of the photo, inkjet (this is very important!) printer, thermal transfer paper, iron and scissors. Transfer paper can be purchased in computer stores and office equipment stores that sell related products. A white 100% cotton t-shirt is needed because synthetics can not withstand high temperatures during photo translation, and white fabric color will hide white paper background. However, if you find a colored thermal paper and a T-shirt in a tone to it, then you can take advantage of this. Work process
Select the image you want. You can make a collage or caricature in a graphics editor. Then display the photo in the mirror image and save. This is especially important if your drawing contains inscriptions. Insert thermal paper into the printer and print a photo. Allow it to dry for about an hour. Cut off all the extra photos around the edges. If the image is square or rectangular, cut straight at the edge, deviating from the figure of 5 mm. And if the pattern does not have clear contours, then simply round off the borders and make the lines smoother. Place the printed image on the T-shirt face down. Preheat the iron to maximum and iron the paper for 3-5 minutes. Gradually increase the pressure on the paper. Pay special attention to the edges of the image. Wait until the thermal paper cools down and only then begin to gently remove it from the T-shirt. To do this, gently pull the corner of the paper and pull it. Do not make sharp movements, sharp jerks. If you see that the paint is not all on the fabric, but stretches from the paper, put the film back and once again iron it. It is believed that such T-shirts should be able to withstand up to 50 washings before the drawing is erased. Practice shows that you can definitely afford without the fear and risk of washing 20, and then - how lucky.
