How to sew a long skirt


A long summer skirt will not be difficult to sew even for a beginner needlewoman. For sewing do not need a pattern. In addition, in this product will need to build only three seams, not counting the tagging.

Prepare all the details. Treat the four edges of the fabric with a convenient seam (zigzag, straight, overlock). Measure out the required length of the gum. It should fit tightly to the waistline or hips (depending on how you are used to wearing skirts), but do not press. Also process short cuts so that the rubber does not pour.

Make the assembly along the top edge. To do this, at a distance of 0.7-1 cm from the edge, straighten the stitch with a wide stitch. Then gently pull the end of the thread, distributing the folds along the entire length. Continue until the upper cut of the skirt is longer than the girdle by 20 cm.

Fasten the elastic band to the fabric. To do this, attach the belt with the wrong side to the face of the fabric. The cut must go to the elastic band for 1-2 cm. After that, at equal intervals, attach the cloth to the belt with the help of pins.

Stitch the elements to each other, moving from the pin to the pin and removing them. Slightly tighten the rubber band during operation.

Connect the side sections face-to-face. Stitch them, moving from the waist to the bottom of the skirt.

Repeat the back seam in three steps. First, on the wrong side, press the allowances in one direction, then in different directions. After that, from the front side, again smooth out the allowances in different directions.

Now you can postpone the required length of the product. Try on the skirt with the shoes with which you will most often wear it. Pin the length. It is advisable that at this stage someone helps you.

From the underside mark the line of the bottom edge of the skirt with chalk. Leave 3-4 cm for the allowance and draw along the entire length of the line. On this markup, cut off the unnecessary strip (from it you can make a brooch-flower for a shirt and thus create a beautiful set). Sweep the cut and press the hem onto the wrong side. Lay a line near the line of the marking, fixing the allowance. The long skirt is ready!
