Instructions

1

Russian winters are famous for their harshfrosts that do not spare anyone: no birds, no mammals, no other animals. In this regard, animals (especially birds) need additional help from the human side. Many sedentary birds (pigeons, sparrows, titmouses) take the first step independently, gathering in flocks and flocking closer to the settlements, people are only required to extend a helping hand to them.

2

Among people there is an opinion that birds fly away tosouth, because they are cold. This is not true. It's all in the stern absent in winter. Wintering is the most non-sterile to the stern of birds, which do not disdain to feed near garbage cans, etc. However, you will not eat such a "food": it is non-nutritious, it is not enough. That's why a man, feeding birds in winter, makes them an invaluable service! Of course, you can not provide a full-fledged feed of all birds without exception - someone will get more, someone - less, and someone and does not stay without another dinner.

3

Nevertheless, people who want to help birdsto survive the winter, it is necessary to take care of special feeders. Feeders can be made of wood or plain paper. Often people just use some boxes, hanging them to their windows, hanging on trees, etc. If everything is clear with the feeders, then with the food for the birds - not quite. The fact is that they need to be fed not as though, but with certain food. Ornithologists recommend to make a special mixture for birds.

4

The composition of such a mixture must include seedssunflower, accounting for 75% of the total food. The fact that sunflower seeds are a high-calorie product, therefore, should be the main energy source for sparrows and tits. In addition, vegetable fats contained within these seeds, benefit both nuthatches, and woodpeckers, and in general all grainy birds. In addition to seeds, ornithologists are advised to place calcium top dressing in the feeding troughs, which serves as the usual food for poultry: shells from chicken eggs, pieces of plaster, crushed chalk, etc.

5

Some birds, remaining to spend the winter in their ownmargins, prefer to eat millet, oats, rice, wheat, wheat. Such birds as sparrows, goldfinches, and green-eyed birds will fly to this food. Feeding birds in the winter is a noble business. Specialists recommend doing this with children, since such experience will allow them to better study the behavior of birds, their species, and develop children's love of animals and respect for nature.
