Firstly, the slate is brittle, so it must be carefully transported and laid. Secondly, it quickly overgrown with moss, so before installation, the sheets need to be treated with a special compound or primer. There is also an opinion that slate has carcinogenic properties - this statement is not yet proven, but in most European countries this roofing is prohibited, which says a lot about its safety.

Also, slate is difficult to call a beautiful coating, even though modern asbestos-cement sheets have begun to be covered with paint.
