Tip 1: Stacking technology: paving stones with your own hands

When creating pedestrian pathslay the paving stone on a prepared foundation of gravel and sand. If you are building a roadway, you will need to use crushed stone and a cement-sand mixture.

Laying pavers for a walkway

Before laying pavers make a marking of the futuretrack with the help of a rope and pegs, after which the excavation is carried out. To prevent rainwater from forming on the puddle cover, the base should have a slope of about 1.5 cm per 1 m. Then the soil is compacted by electric or pneumatic tamping. A layer of gravel or crushed stone about 10 cm thick is poured on the base, with a fraction of 20-40 mm. Before filling it is recommended to spread geotextile to prevent deformation of the roadbed. Without such a crushed stone pillow, you can do only if the surface is protected from rain, for example, when constructing a floor in a gazebo. After that, the curbs are laid on the cement-sand mortar. The ratio of sand and cement in it should be 3: 1. After 24 hours a sand cushion is made about 10 cm thick. In this case, river sand should be used, in which there is no clay. After leveling it should be watered abundantly and compacted. Then begin to lay the paving stone in accordance with the chosen pattern, tapping it with a rubber mallet. If necessary, the bars can be sawed with a grinder with a diamond disc. When the track is finished, it is compacted with a vibrating saw, for this purpose a special rubberized base should be used, so as not to damage the surface of the track. Then it is sprinkled on top with pure fine-grained sand, it should fill all the cracks and fasten the paving stones. Surplus is washed off with a gentle jet of water so that the sand does not wash out of the seams. It is advisable after this once again to surface the vibrator.

Construction of sites for cars

When creating such sites from paving stones docrushed stone pillow 15-20 cm thick, with a layer of sand should be at least 15 cm. After it is moistened and compacted, a dry cement-sand mixture, prepared in a ratio of 6: 1, is poured. The thickness of the layer is 4-5 cm, pavers are laid on it, which is then compacted. The surface is watered abundantly with water, so that the mixture of cement and sand hardens, re-it is not compacted. When laying paving stones on the roadway and parking lot, it is better to use a vibrating saw or a mechanized rammer, in this case there will not be enough manual tamping.

Tip 2: How to lay the sidewalk tile yourself

Qualitative advantages of paving slabsprovided it with wide distribution. In the cities it is covered with footpaths, courtyard territories are decorated. However, there is a pavement tile in the suburban areas, where it is possible to equip the paths and the parking lot with it. The most important thing is that you can cope with this task yourself, if you strictly observe the technology of laying paving slabs.

What to lay the paving slab

The technology of laying paving slabs allows using as a basis:

  • crushed stone;
  • sand;
  • concrete mixture.

Loose compounds are very mobile and manuallyIt is impossible to compact them to a dense state. Therefore, if there are no additional skills and mechanisms to work with them, it is better to choose a concrete mix.

However, the laying of paving slabs on the sand is fraught with the fact that over time it will grow through the grass.

If the paving slab is installed in a parking space, the base will need to be reinforced with a reinforcing mesh.

Preparatory work

Laying paving slabs, like any construction work, begins with marking with a construction cord. The cord is laid exactly on the height of the paving slab.

When preparing the depth of the base, it is important to take into account the direction in which the water will flow in the rain, and if the laying is sloping, then it should be strengthened by 5 degrees.

The basis for laying the paving slab is removed at a depth of approximately 600 mm from the level of the tension cord.

The first layer is a cushion of gravel,which is rammed and poured with a cement slurry of 1.5 cm. To prepare the mortar, it is better to use cement of the grade not lower than M400 in proportion 1 to 3 with sand.

So that after laying, the foundation under the pavingtiles are not cracked, it is necessary to provide compensation joints about 3 mm wide. They are installed with the help of racks laid directly after pouring the concrete mixture. As soon as the composition grabs a little, you can remove the slats. Sand is poured into the resulting grooves.

After the mixture has completely dried, a concrete screed is poured in, which is the same solution, but of a more liquid consistency. It is recommended to make a screed 2-3 cm thick.

The final stage, namely the installation of pavingtiles, is made after the screed grasped, but did not have time to completely freeze. Tiles are installed to each other at a level marked by a cord and tamped with a rubber hammer.

It is important to leave the distance between the tiles of 2 mm,for which tile crosses are used. Interlacing space is half filled with fine sand, and then it is poured with a concrete mixture. If the composition falls on the front side of the tile, it must be immediately removed with a damp cloth.

Next week, the paving must be left to dry completely and eliminate additional loads.
