What brand of gasoline will not

European standards for environmental friendliness of fuelbecome more stringent. If our country follows them blindly, it can lead to an economic catastrophe. What gasoline will the government ban next time?

What brand of gasoline will not
Attempts to keep pace with environmental regulationsThe European Union does not always lead to positive consequences. The ban on the production and sale of less environmentally friendly grades of gasoline, indeed, leads to a reduction in emissions into the atmosphere. But what happens to the economy of the country?

Euro-standards

In Europe, the movement for ecologicalpurity, so there they gradually move from "dirty" gasolines to cleaner ones. First, the Euro-1 standard, then Euro-2, Euro-3, Euro-4, Euro-5 and Euro-6 were introduced into the EEC. With the introduction of each next "Euro" requirements for the content in the exhaust gases of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides are increasingly tightened. If for Euro-1 the CO content in the exhaust gas was limited to 2.72 grams per kilometer, then, in accordance with the Euro-6 standard, the CO content in the exhaust gases should no longer exceed 0.5 grams per kilometer of the path.

Fuel crisis of 2011

In 2011, Russia already imposed a ban ongasoline brand Ai-80. This was due to the fact that the production and use of low octane fuel did not meet the requirements of the European Union. Gasoline Аи-80 has an octane number not higher than 80, while the octane number of most quality gasoline types exceeds 95. The lower the octane number, the higher the propensity of gasoline to detonate in the engine cylinder, which lowers engine power and accelerates its wear. 2011 on the turnover of low-octane gasoline provoked a fuel crisis. In some Russian regions petrol stations began to be closed due to a shortage of gasoline. At the gas stations, which continued to work, gasoline was sold in strictly limited quantities (up to 20 liters) or by cards. The fuel crisis managed to be eliminated only by lifting the ban on the production and sale of Euro-2 gasoline. At the same time, the government decided to delay the introduction of the Euro-4 standard.

What kind of gasoline will be banned?

What gasoline can be banned in the future? This question is easy to answer if you read the rules of Euro-4, Euro-5 and Euro-6 standards. In the EU blacklist - any gasoline with a low octane number, which during combustion generates significant amounts of harmful substances (carbon monoxide, nitric oxide and unburned hydrocarbons). Will our government blindly be on the sidelines of European technical regulations or realizes that people's well-being and a developed economy are more important than ecology?
