Prepare the car for repair. It is advisable to change the timing belt on the inspection pit, lift, or overpass. First, remove the wing from the front arch. The dimensions of the car are so small that the engine and all attachments are assembled under the hood very tightly. Therefore, it is more convenient to carry out repairs with the wing removed. Now, with a 10-key, unscrew the four bolts that secure the top cover to the unit. Then remove the cover.

Examine the belt by turning the crankshaft tohour hand. See if the edge of the belt is eaten. If he has a uniform wear, it means that he slips and clings to the roller. The reason for the slipping of the belt, as a rule, is the pump. The bearing in it breaks down, there is a backlash, why the pulley of the pump slightly tilts to the side. It is desirable that when replacing the timing belt, the pump is replaced. This will save you from too frequent repairs in the timing joint.

Remove the dipstick that controls the leveloil. Then set the piston of the first cylinder to the top dead center. On the pulley of the camshaft there is a mark that must be aligned with the mark on the cylinder head. In this case, the mark on the crankshaft must coincide with the marking on the clutch block. If you look from below, in the clutch housing you will see a viewing window, through which you can see the marks on the crankshaft.

Disconnect the auxiliary drive beltsequipment. First remove the belt that drives the power steering pump, then remove the generator belt. Further unscrew a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft and remove it. To crankshaft engine Matiz did not turn, hold it with a screwdriver inserted into the viewing window of the clutch housing. You can use a chisel, if there is no strong screwdriver. The main thing is to fix the crankshaft in place, holding it by the teeth of the crown.

Remove the bolt securing the tube bracketщупа to the block of the engine. After that, take the receiver to the side. Then unscrew the bolts securing the bottom cover and remove it. Unscrew the bolt securing the roller and turn the bolt to loosen the belt tension. Remove the timing belt. Try not to turn the shafts, otherwise the valves will be broken.

Install a new belt, pre-checkthe coincidence of all marks on the shafts. When changing the timing belt, be sure to put a new video, because its service life is quite small. Turn the roller, achieve the required timing belt tension. Try not to over-tighten, as this will lead to rapid wear. A weak stretch can cause the belt to shift to one or two teeth. Then gather everything in the reverse order.
