How to disassemble the pedal

How to disassemble the pedal

In cars equipped with a mechanicalgearbox, single-plate clutch is used, controlled by a cable mechanically. The free-wheel clutch adjustment is automatic and occurs by the action of the ratchet mechanism located at the clutch pedal. When repairing and maintaining the clutch, you sometimes have to disassemble pedal and remove it from its place.

How to disassemble the pedal

You will need

  • - set of wrenches;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - rags;
  • - Graphite grease.

Instructions

1

Refer to the clutch pedal assembly. In the collection it consists of a spring, a latch, an axis and a retainer, a bushing, the actual pedal, the tooth sector and the tension spring.

2

Before dismantling the pedal, check the mechanismadhesion; probably, in complete disassembly there is no need, and to restore the working capacity of the mechanism it will be sufficient to carry out its adjustment and debugging.

3

Check the free path of the clutch cable. If it is missing, it can lead to slippage of clutch and increased wear of the linings. If necessary, unlock the automatic mechanism lock on the clutch pedal gear.

4

Open the hood and pull out the cable sheath from theseptum by abrupt movement. This will lead to the tension of the cable and the rotation of the toothed sector. During normal operation, you will hear clicks of the latch, which moves along the gear element.

5

If there is a jamming of the latch, attachforce to the switch lever to disconnect the cable. If the mechanism can not be restored, replace it with a new one by dismantling it first pedal adhesion.

6

Disconnect the clutch cable from the lever and pedals, without removing the cable itself. From the clutch axis, remove the spring clip and bushing. Now uncheck pedal clutch entirely, in the collection.

7

Remove the bushings from both sides of the pedal and remove the serrated segment. Disconnect the spring.

8

Remove one of the fixing clips,located on the axis of the latch. Disconnect the axle and the latch from the spring on it. Clean the parts of the mechanism from dirt and carefully inspect to assess the degree of wear.

9

Lubricate the toothed sector and the latch axis usinggraphite grease. If disassembly of the clutch pedal was done to prevent and replace individual parts of the mechanism, replace the parts and complete the assembly of the pedal in the reverse order.
