Tip 1: How to know the frequency of the RAM
Tip 1: How to know the frequency of the RAM
RAM required for storageinformation used by the CPU during operation. A personal computer can have several memory modules at once, which work as a single unit.
You will need
- - Speccy.
Instructions
1
To increase the operational efficiency ofyou need to add new cards. RAM modules have two main characteristics: the amount of the board and the frequency of its operation. The first indicator characterizes the amount of information that can be stored in the module. The more this figure, the less frequently the board needs to be "rebooted".
2
The bus frequency of the module shows the numberinformation that comes from the board to the processor in a unit of time. When you select a new memory module, you need to find out the characteristics of the installed cards. The fact is that the frequency of operation of all modules is automatically reduced to the value of a smaller card. Download the program Speccy. You can do this on the developers site www.piriform.com.
3
Install the utility after downloading the files andRestart the computer. Open the Speccy program and select the "RAM" tab. Find the submenu SPD and expand the items "Slot 1", "Slot 2" and so on. Look at the metrics displayed in the "Frequency" columns for each memory module. This is the clock frequency of the boards with which they are working at the moment.
4
Find the "Bandwidth" fields and look at their metrics. The data displayed in these fields indicates a nominal frequency work of memory modules. Based on the information received, find out frequency new memory module. Sometimes a larger performance gain can be obtained not by adding another memory module, but by replacing an existing one.
5
If a memory card with a low frequency is installed in the computer, it is better to replace it. This will save you the original amount of modules, increasing their throughput.
Tip 2: How to choose a memory module
If you want, you can increase the power of almost any computer. Most motherboards have several slots for connecting memory. But very often at least half of these slotsremains free. Therefore, it is possible to upgrade the PC by simply installing additional memory modules. And an increase in the amount of RAM contributes to faster work of programs and gaming applications.
You will need
- Computer, CPU-Z program, Internet access.
Instructions
1
Memory modules should be selected, based on the characteristics of the motherboard and the already installed memory modules. It is necessary to know the type of memory, the frequency of operation and preferably the firm-manufacturer.
2
You can learn the characteristics of RAM withusing the CPU-Z program. Download it (takes less than megabytes of space) and install it on your computer. Run the program. Select the Memory tab, and in it, in the upper left corner of the window, look for Type. This label indicates the type of RAM that is appropriate for your motherboard. Now in the middle of the program window find the inscription Dram frequency. This will be the frequency of the memory modules.
3
Then select the Spd tab. Then, in the upper left part of the window, click the arrow next to Slot. It will show how many memory slots there are on your motherboard. When you select the slot number, you will also see the characteristics of the memory module installed in this slot. Among the characteristics will be the name of the manufacturer. If you select a slot in which you have not yet installed module memory, the information window will simply be empty. In this way, you not only know the manufacturer, but also the number of free slots.
4
Now it remains only to determine the volumememory module. It should be chosen based on how much memory is already installed in the system. Even if you only have one free slot, you can still increase the amount of RAM to the maximum, since there are 8 gigabytes of memory available for sale.
5
Note that 32-bit Windows supportsa maximum of 4 gigabytes of memory, so do not take a memory module that, in conjunction with the already installed, will give a volume of more than 4 gigabytes. If you have a 64-bit operating system, then the amount of RAM in this case is limited only by the capabilities of the motherboard.
Tip 3: How to determine the processor's bit rate
Among the minuses of 32-bit operating systems the mostit is significant that they support the installation of a maximum of four gigabytes of RAM. If you want to install more than four gigabytes of RAM, then you will need to install a 64-bit version of the OS. But in order to install such an OS, you need a 64-bit processor. Of course, today most processors are like that. But it's better to check its bitrate before installing.
You will need
- - Computer with Windows OS;
- - the program CPU-Z;
- - program AIDA64.
Instructions
1
Right click on the My Computer iconmouse. Select Properties. Look at the name of the processor, and it writes the processor capacity. This method will only learn the basic information.
2
More detailed information about the processor's capacity, andAlso its other characteristics can be achieved using the free CPU-Z program. Download it from the Internet and install it. Run the program. In the first window, which appears after its launch, find the line Name. It shows the processor model and its capacity. Also in this window are indicated other characteristics of the processor.
3
In case you need to know the most detailedinformation about the processor's frequency, technologies that it supports, you need the AIDA64 program. The program is paid, but you can try the trivial version. Download and install AIDA64 on your PC. After that, restart the computer.
4
Run the program. Wait a few seconds while collecting information about the system. In the right window of the program, select the "System Board" component. Then in the list of appeared devices, select the "CPU" component. In the next window, find the "Processor Properties" section. The processor size is indicated in the line "Processor type", as well as in the "Instruction Set" line.
5
Also in the "System board" there is a componentCupid. Select it, and then a list of technologies that are supported by modern processors will appear. Opposite to each of the technologies is the inscription "Supported" or "Not Supported".
