Sometimes the user needs toformat the system drive on which the current operating system is installed. Of course, the system does not provide this. However, there are ways to perform this operation.

To perform this operation, you will needdownload your computer from another source of loading, it can be an optical disk, an external hard disk or, for example, a flash drive with an operating system installed on it.

Booted from another operating system,format the system hard disk as if it were a regular hard disk without the operating system installed. For example, from MS-DOS, you just type "format <drive letter>". Note that the drive letter will most likely be different from the one that was previously assigned.

You can also use the Windows installation disk and format the hard disk with the installer.
Tip 2: How to format the system partition
The formatting process is used to change the typefile system or for quick cleaning of the hard drive. Deletion of information from the system partition of the hard disk is usually carried out using special applications.

Before installing a new version of the operating systemsystems recommend formatting the active partition of the disk. To do this, use the utilities built into the OS installation program. Insert the startup disk into the drive.

Restart the computer and open the Quick Launch menu. It is usually called by pressing F8 (F12). Specify the DVD drive in which the Windows installation disc is located.

Wait until the operating system installation program starts. Go to the next menu and select the local drive on which to install the OS.

When working with Windows XP, select the option "Format to NTFS" and press the Enter key. The program will automatically clean the system partition and continue the procedure for installing Windows.

The Windows Seven and Vista installation programs allow you to manually configure hard disk partitions. Select the local volume with the left mouse button where the old copy of the operating system is located.

Expand the Disk Settings menu. Click the Format button. After completing this procedure, select the cleaned partition again and click the "Next" button.

If you need to format hard disk partitions without installing a new copy of Windows, use Acronis Disk Director. Download the image of the boot disk with the specified utility.

Record the image files on the disk drive, saving the ability to load the program in DOS mode. To do this, use Ultra ISO, Nero Burning ROM or ISO File Burning.

Run the program from the disk, previouslyrebooting the computer. Select the system logical disk and click the Format button. Confirm the application of the settings and wait for the partition to be cleaned. Similarly, format the remaining local disks, if necessary.
