Life and death of Panteleimon the Healer
A young boy, the son of a pagan and a Christian, was born in Nicomedia. He received a good education and studied the basics of healing with a healer, who was close to the emperor. Later, the young man met with the Christian Ermolai, who told him about God and faith. The stories amazed Panteleimon. He accepted the faith and set foot on the road of helping others with God's prayer on his lips. He was soon convinced of the power of prayer, when he was able to lift the baby, which was bitten by a poisonous snake. After that, whole lines lined up to the "doctor from God". He helped all - poor and rich, Christians and pagans - to return to life and turned them to their faith. But envious pagan doctors informed the emperor about the activities of Panteleimon and that he glorified the name of Jesus Christ. The young man was summoned for interrogation to the palace, where he told about his methods of treatment. But even a person who came to tell about the victory over his illness thanks to the Lord did not break the wrath of the pagan emperor and his advisers. The believer was executed immediately. Panteleimon was sentenced to torture in the hope that he would give up his faith. But this did not happen. Emperor Maximian, the governor of Panteleimon, was sentenced to death by cutting off his head. The blood that was shed during the execution turned into milk, and the dried olive tree, near which everything happened, revived and fertilized!Where are the remains of the Great Martyr Panteleimon?
Collected blood left on the place of executionThey are still preserved today in the Monastery of the Incarnation of the Lord in Madrid. Every year on the day of the death of the healer, on July 27, according to the new calendar, the blood of a saint is transformed into liquid. The head of Panteleimon is kept in the monastery on Athos, and the relics of the Great Martyr are divided into different temples all over the world. Anyone who asks for health for himself and his family falls in prayer to the relics and asks for help from the Healer. For Panteleimon, the faith of the applicant was not important. He helped every person who asked for a cure, guided the lost from the true path, guarded the soldiers during the service. The main thing is to believe that the great martyr will save the world from all ills and bring everyone to the true God!
