How the trolls look in mythology
The inhabitants of Norway consider their country to be the onlythe habitat of trolls. True, these mythical creatures sometimes cross the sea ford to see Denmark, but always return to their home. Nevertheless, the trolls are known to the Swedes, the Germans, and the British.
Most often, trolls call mountain spirits, living in huge caves. They have impressive sizes. The growth of an adult troll reaches 3-8 m, and "width" - 2 m. There is an opinion that there are miniature trolls like dwarfs. The head of the troll resembles the head of a turtle, only it is not extended forward, but densely planted on a short, thick neck. Also, the main feature of the troll is a huge nose. These creatures have very thick skin, covered with mosses, mounds, warts and other ugly growths.
The color of the skin of trolls depends on their place of habitation andcan be green, gray or black. Green trolls live in blossoming mountain valleys, not far from winding rivers, gray and black - in mountain crevices, caves and other dark places. On the hands and feet of the trolls, only 4 fingers, and each of them has a small and thick tail, usually a triangular shape. Norwegian trolls can also have many heads. In general, the appearance of trolls is deceptive, and, having met a strange man in the mountains, it is worthwhile to see carefully whether a tail is sticking out from under his cloak.
Norwegians consider trolls to be almost nationalsymbol. In this country trolls live everywhere - in the mountains, forests, cellars of ancient castles. It is believed that trolls are nocturnal and afraid of sunlight. If the troll that has been left out does not manage to escape into the cave, the first ray of the sun turns it into stone. Therefore, local residents do not recommend tourists to take minerals with them as souvenirs. Any stone here can turn out to be a troll and, returning at night its usual appearance, to harm a man who took him away from his native country.
As food trolls prefer meat, in thatnumber - and human. Therefore, after meeting with the troll, you need to escape from him without looking back. If you can not do this, you should try to guess a troll puzzle. The one whose riddle is too difficult for him, the stupid ogre lets go, without harming him.
Significantly different from their fellow trolls, living under the bridges. They can appear in the sun and do not eat human meat. Usually, such trolls participated in the construction of the bridge and died in the event of its destruction.
Sometimes trolls abduct women to make themtheir slaves. However, an ordinary woman can become a troll's wife, but this does not make it easier for her. The unfortunate one has to endure constant abuse and brutal beatings. In addition, she was rubbed with a magic stinging ointment that turned her into an ugly creature with a dark, woolly skin and a bulbous nose.
World fame brought trollsdramatic poem by Henrik Ibsen "Per Gynt". Trolls are represented in her self-satisfied, but very patriotic minded beings. They sincerely believe their caves are beautiful castles, and the disgusting drink they produce is a wonderful nectar.
