Tip 1: How Jargon Came

Tip 1: How Jargon Came

Slang, or slang, has become so firmly established inspeech of modern society, that the history of his appearance was lost in time. However, the reasons for the occurrence of various kinds of jargon are well defined and explainable.

How jargon arose

Psychology

To the jargon that arose on the psychologicalbased on words and expressions formed by creating new words and reducing existing ones. For example, "priv" instead of "hello", "ok" instead of "okay", "tranquility" instead of "calmness", "dr" instead of "birthday", etc. All these words appear because of the striving of humanity, especially its young representatives, to facilitate the pronunciation of certain words and to simplify speech as a whole. The same applies to borrowing words. For example, the word "hi" is shorter and simpler than the word "hello", and the word "gud" with pleasure replaces the approval (good, excellent, cool, fine). It is noteworthy that most of the newly formed slang words eventually become so tightly integrated into the general speech that they become ordinary words, losing the status of jargon.

Professional sphere

To the professional sphere can be attributedjargon, arising from the characteristics of a particular profession, as well as words that appear in schools, universities and prisons. As a rule, someone comes up with a new word, and people who are in his circle of communication begin to use this word. Thus, a whole section of the language appears, which needs translation for those who have never encountered it. For example, programmers have their own lingo, which is a mixture of English technical and Russian languages ("bug", "bot", "dos", etc.). Among the drivers there are expressions like "spinning a wheel", "driving", "bombing", "nine", "six", etc. School children love the words "teacher", "bad", etc. Students add to them the expressions "teachers", "points", "spurs", "botan", etc. Especially differs from others is the criminal jargon, which includes not one dozen words and expressions incomprehensible to an ordinary person. Also new words and expressions appear in certain groups of people, united by a common cause. For example, in the army ("spirits", "demobilized", "self-willed").

Immigration

Many jargons arise from the reasonresettlement of peoples. When one nationality joins another, languages are mixed and new words are obtained, which are used only in certain situations. As a rule, such words are modified according to the rules of not the language of their origin, but the language of immigrants. Thus, jargon appeared "rush off", "legitimate", etc.

Tip 2: Writer's vocabulary

The biggest trouble that awaits many novice writers is the realization that the writer is useless, that his vocabulary is meager. What to do?

Vocabulary of the writer

I, frankly speaking, can invent good stories, but my vocabulary wishes the best, but with pride I will add: every day I am replenishing this stock.

How I did it and do it. First I took an explanatory dictionary of the Russian language Ozhegov and tried to grow wiser with this dictionary. He reached the letter D and surrendered. In my head a lot was not added. Although sometimes I still open it. Dictionary Ozhegova should always be at hand writer - it's like a calculator at the hand of the accountant.

I began to read different authors, and not onlyauthors of short stories, novels and stories, but also scenarios. And in a separate notebook began to write out words that I know, I understand their meaning, but for some reason I do not use them in my works. I will give an example. My heroes always, when someone called them, "turned" to scream, but it turns out to be more correct to write "turned around."

Then, sunbathing, I began to sort out the "new"words in the same notebook according to this principle: 1. Words used in the description of nature, weather, etc. Words used in the description of the area. Criminal words, jargon, and so on. Words used to describe the nature of a person. Words used to describe a person (fat, heavy, floppy, sunken cheeks, etc.)

And what have I achieved? The words began to fit in my head, like my own.

Just do not stop writing at all. Write every day. It does not matter what words. Write! Only in practice, you will gain experience and learn to apply your new knowledge. Without practice, teaching is useless.
