What is an LED TV

LED TVs have proven themselves well andEnjoy frenzied popularity. The cost of such TVs is gradually falling, but even now not everyone knows what these TVs differ from other models and what they are.

What is an LED TV

LED TVs

LED TV - TV with liquid crystalA screen in which LEDs are used for its illumination. For example, in other LCD TVs that appeared earlier, a cold cathode was used to illuminate the screen. It is believed that it is LED TVs that have the best image quality, in contrast to previous models of TVs, namely: color quality, contrast, color depth, brightness and other parameters. The quality of the image is affected by a new technology called local dimming. This technology is responsible for local dimming of the screen, due to which the quality of the picture increases several times. Unfortunately, this technology has some drawbacks, for example: poor color uniformity in the image, color halos may appear on the contrast transitions, and some of its details may disappear in the dark parts of the image.

Types of LED TVs

It is worth noting that LED TVs are separatedAmong themselves on two subspecies by a way of an arrangement of light-emitting diodes, it: Direct and Edge. Direct implies the location of the LEDs evenly, behind the screen, and using Edge technology, in turn, the LEDs will be located along the entire perimeter of the screen, together with the scattering panel. Each of these technologies has its own merits and demerits. For example, Direct, allows you to get a more even illumination, but this will increase the thickness of the screen itself, and therefore the TV, and in addition, will increase power consumption. This is due to the fact that using this method increases the number of LEDs. Thin or ultra-thin TVs are created with the use of Edge technology, which is the complete opposite. As mentioned above, the cost of LED TVs today is decreasing. This is due to the appearance of televisions with advanced IPS technology. Such TVs have better color rendering than LED TVs, high level of brightness and contrast, high definition clarity and many other advantages. As a result, choosing a TV by the type of illumination, a person can make a mistake, as far as it does not always have a decisive influence on image quality. A big role in this is the type of graphics processor, as well as image processing technology.
