How to sew a strong shopping bag

You will need

  • - cloth on the bag;
  • - Velcro;
  • - nonwoven (doublerine);
  • - thread, sewing machine.

Instructions

1

Choose a tight material for the bag. You can buy a new fabric in the tone of your clothes. It looks nice when the bag is an ensemble with a jacket or coat. If you do not intend to spend money, reconsider old things that you can already say goodbye to. The main thing is that the material is dense enough and not crumbled.

2

Invent and make a pattern. You can draw your interesting model or draw patterns based on the already available version of the bag. The simplest version is a rectangular bag with patch pockets. In the pattern should be two cloth bags, a pocket and pens. Depending on the model, the bag can be with one-piece or individual handles.

3

Capture the details of the bag. On the fabric with chalk or pencil, circle all the prepared parts. Cut them out taking into account the allowances for seams. On the front side of the bag, mark the location of the pocket with chalk. From the cushioning material (fleece, doublerine), cut out the strips to strengthen the handles. From the remnants of the fabric, cut the fastener part with a length of at least 30 cm and a width of about 6 cm.

4

Fix the handle parts with a cushioning cloth. Glue the strip of fleece with an iron. If you want to get waterproof bag, then cut out the polyethylene two partscloth. Put the film on the underside of the part and gently (by adjusting the heat), iron the fabric on the front side. Melt, the polyethylene will adhere to the material. As a result, the inside of the bag will not be afraid of water. Separate the strip for the fastener three times and stitch it. To the ends of it, sew on a square of Velcro.

5

Press the pocket allowances on the wrong side. Carefully attach the prepared pocket. Fold the panels face-down inside. Between them, put a strip of Velcro so that it is on one side. Stretch the parts on the sewing machine. Unscrew bag. If the handles you cut separately, then mark the fabric on the fabric of their attachment and stitch. For greater strength on the handles, make the basting "cross".
