Before you start painting yarnDetermine what fibers it consists of. For this you can conduct a simple experiment. Bring a lighted match to the end of the thread. If the fire moves slowly along it, there is a smell of burnt bone, and on the tip a caked ball is formed, then the thread is made of pure wool. If the thread quickly burned and the smell of burnt paper appeared, then it is cotton yarn. If the threads are synthetic, they will not burn, but will melt.

Please note that the color indicated on the package will only be obtained if you paint white threads. If you paint colored yarn, the color will turn out to be more dark and saturated. Experiment on a small number of threads. Dilute the color according to the instructions on the package and color the thread a short length. if after it dries, the color will turn out lighter than what is needed, add more dye to the solution, and if it's darker - dilute it with water. Only after you have achieved the desired shade, proceed to color all yarn.

Wind the threads in coils with a mass not exceeding 100 g andtie them in two places with a strong thread. Make a soapy solution and wash the hairs in it, without twisting or kneading them. Then rinse the yarn carefully in warm water and wring out.

Make a solution of the dye in the requiredproportion and add 1.5 cups of table vinegar per package. Stir the mixture until the colorant is completely dissolved and immerse the coils in it. Place the dishes on a slow fire and bring to a boil. In this condition, the yarn should lie in the solution for about an hour. All this time periodically turn the skeins gently.

Remove the dishes from the heat and allow the solution to cool. Take the yarn and rinse it in warm water with the addition of table vinegar at a rate of 1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water.

Hints slightly wring out and wrap in a clean cloth, so that it absorbs excess moisture. Hang the threads and dry, and then roll them into tangles.
