1

People who collect and study postalbrand, called philatelists. Philately began to develop almost immediately after the postal services came up with a mark of paid envelopes with letters using stamps.

2

Starting to collect your own collection, you need todecide on several things. Firstly - will you collect the dried or unwashed brands? A few decades ago, slaked stamps were very popular with philatelists. Unexpected brands were not recognized at all. Indeed, each brand that has made a long journey from the sender of the letter to the recipient has its own unique history. There is a story according to which on December 12, 1912 all post offices in France were filled with philatelists, who wanted to receive a stamp with the date of cancellation "12.12.1912". Modern collectors also collect unwashed brands - they too can be unique in their own way.

3

Decide on which collection of brands youwill collect. It can be chronological, which will include stamps issued in different periods of time by one country. It can also be thematic, containing stamps, the image on which is devoted to a certain topic - animals, plants, historical events, countries, etc. The brand can be attributed to a certain topic not only with the help of the image applied to it, but taking into account the purpose of producing this series of brands. The older the brand is, the more valuable it is in the eyes of the philatelists. But this rule does not always work - some Soviet brands of the 20-ies are more expensive than those issued in pre-revolutionary Russia.

4

When selecting brands for your collection, attention to their condition - it must be irreproachable. If the brand is crumpled, has torn edges, it can only spoil the collection. Stained and damaged stamps are recognized as unusable. Therefore, when collecting slaked marks, do not tear them away from the envelope in any case. They should be carefully cut with paper and soaked in warm water.

5

You can replenish the collection by purchasing marks fromother philatelists or in philatelic stores, and also exchanging them with their friends. For this, a "reserve fund" of brands of topics and brands that are not of interest to you should be collected in your collection. To make up such a fund, collectors often ask their acquaintances to give them postal envelopes from letters.

6

Keep stamps in special albums-clasters. Do not glue stamps to albums.
