If all modern pots and pans youprefer the cast-iron utensils that you got from your grandmother, you must have faced such a problem as the formation of carbon deposits and other contaminants on its surface. You can cope with this problem yourself with the help of certain improvised tools.

With a slight contamination of the cast iron panuse the following recipe: pour a small amount of water inside, add dishwashing liquid, vinegar or salt, then carefully wipe the foam with a sponge and rinse under running water. For more difficult contaminants, it is recommended to use only acetic acid: pour 1 bottle of this product into the cast-iron pan and dilute with a little water. Leave on for a couple of hours, then rinse thoroughly.

Black carbon

If the pot is made of cast iron difficultremovable carbon black, fill a large container, for example, a metal basin with water and put a pan there. Then pour a little soda ash, detergent and add clerical glue. All this must be put on a moderate fire and bring to a boil. The duration of the boil depends on the degree of carbon deposit, but not less than 2 hours. As soon as the carbon begins to drift off, remove the pan from the pelvis or other container and clean it with a metal brush. If necessary, you can repeat this procedure again.

Fire is what really works

Another no less effective way to updatean old cast-iron pan - put it in the fire for a long time. However, this option is not entirely suitable for those who live in an apartment, so you can use an oven instead of an open fire - just turn it on at the maximum temperature, put it inside the pan and fry for at least 3 hours, then cool and clean with a special tool.

Modern methods

In addition to time-tested methods of purificationcast-iron dishes, including pots, there are no less effective modern means. If you were able to remove dirt from the inside of the pan, and from the outside they stayed, try to process them with special store tools (for example, "Antinagar" or "Shumanit"). Be sure to follow the instructions on the packaging.

A way for the lazy

To quickly update the cast-iron pan, do notapplying for this special effort, use an ordinary metal brush, designed to eliminate carbon deposits. It will easily and quickly eliminate even very old dirt. But remember that from the use of such a brush on the pan will remain ugly scratches.
