When pregnancy occurs after intercourse

The time of conception is very vague: it can be considered the connection of the egg and sperm, but until the fertilized egg is attached to the wall of the uterus, the body does not know anything about pregnancy, and the fetal egg itself may not reach its goal, and as a result, pregnancy will not occur. Therefore, we can say that a real pregnancy occurs only when the egg is implanted into the lining of the uterus, and these terms may be different.

When pregnancy occurs after intercourse

How and when does conception occur?

During intercourse in the female genital organssperm enters, which contains millions of spermatozoa - male sex cells, characterized by high mobility. But only a few hundred spermatozoa reach the fallopian tubes, where there is a female ovum, ready for fertilization. As soon as one of them meets the female cell, it penetrates into it, and the half sets of chromosomes are combined as a result of the contact of two nuclei that merge into one. Most often this process is completed within four to six hours after sexual intercourse, but in some cases spermatozoa can be inside the woman's body for several days, waiting for the maturation of the egg, and fertilization occurs much later. The average life expectancy of spermatozoa is about three days, but sometimes they can remain viable for a week.
Therefore, fertilization can occur in a few hours, and a few days after sexual intercourse.

When you can determine pregnancy after intercourse

Although it is the connection of the egg and spermcall conception, it is still impossible to determine pregnancy at this time, since even the body itself does not know anything about fertilization. While the fertilized egg is in itself and by the movements of the ciliated epithelium, it slowly moves through the uterine tubes to the uterus. This process takes an average of about seven days, after which the egg is attached to the mucous membrane of the uterus and begins to receive nutrients for the development of the embryo. This implantation occurs at least seven days, and a maximum of twelve days after fertilization.
The fertilized egg does not always reach its goal, in some cases, implantation does not occur, and a woman who has hardly begun pregnancy will never know.
As a result of attaching the egg to the bodythe woman begins to change, the hormonal background changes, the placenta secretes chorionic gonadotropin - a hormone by which you can determine the presence of pregnancy. Therefore, it is possible to learn about pregnancy with a test or a blood test at least seven days after sexual intercourse, and in some cases two weeks or more, when its amount is already noticeable. Conception is considered complete from the moment of implantation, but obstetric pregnancy is considered not with the fertilization of the egg and not with its attachment to the uterus, but since the last menstruation, when the body begins to prepare for a possible pregnancy.
