Bromhexine for the treatment of dry cough

Pharmacological properties

"Bromhexine" helps to reduce viscositybronchial secretion, which increases its secretion. Reducing the viscosity of sputum occurs due to the depolarization of acidic saccharides contained in the bronchial secretion and stimulation of cells that produce a neutral polysaccharide-containing secret.

Form of issue

The drug is available in the form of dragees, tablets for adults, tablets for children, syrup, medicine, solution for inhalation, as well as solution for injection.
Children under 6 years are recommended to take "Bromhexine" in the form of syrup and inhalation.

Indications for use

The drug is prescribed for acute and chronicinflammatory diseases of the bronchi, trachea and lungs, accompanied by the formation of a viscous secretion, which is difficult to separate, in particular in pneumonia, tracheobronchitis, cystic fibrosis, bronchial asthma, bronchitis with a bronchial obstructive component. "Bromhexine" is prescribed for pneumoconjuses. Before and after operations, the drug is used for bronchography.

Instructions for use

A drug in the form of syrup or tablets, childrentake 3 times, adults - 4 times a day. A single dose of the drug is: for children under 2 years - 2 mg, 2-6 years - 4 mg, 6-14 years - 8 mg; for adults and children over 14 years - 8-16 mg. When treating "Bromhexinom" it is recommended to drink liquid in sufficient quantity, as this increases the expectorant effect of the drug. The solution for inhalations is diluted with distilled water in a ratio of 1: 1 and adjusted to body temperature. Inhalations are done twice a day.
Dosage for inhalation: children under 6 years - 10 drops, 6-10 years - 1 mg, children over 10 years - 2 mg, adults - 4 mg for inhalation.

Contraindications

Contraindication to admission isindividual intolerance of components, lactation period, as well as the first trimester of pregnancy. The drug is not prescribed for patients with peptic ulcers of the stomach, renal and hepatic insufficiency, and also suffered recent gastric bleeding.

Side effects

In rare cases with prolonged use there are exacerbations of peptic ulcer, dyspeptic disorders, vomiting, nausea, allergic edema Quincke.

Interaction with other drugs

Do not take "Bromgexin" at the same time ascontaining codeine preparations, as this makes it difficult to produce phlegm. Inconsistency of the drug with alkaline solutions should be taken into account. The drug promotes the penetration of antibiotics.

Tip 2: Ascoril: instructions for use

Ascoril is a combined preparation, in itsthe composition consists of three active ingredients: salbutamol, bromhexine, guaifenesin, therefore it has the properties of bronchodilator, mucolytic and expectorant.

Askoril: instructions for use

Instructions for use of Ascoril

Ascoril is prescribed for colds andcough associated with bronchospasm. One tablet of the drug contains bromhexine hydrochloride - 8 mg, salbutamol sulfate - 2 mg, guaifenesin - 100 mg. Bromhexine is a derivative of benzylamines and vasicin. It has mucolytic and expectorant and action. Bromgexin increases the volume of sputum, reduces the viscosity and removes phlegm from the bronchi, increases the secretion of exocrine glands (lacrimation). Salbutamol is a selective β2-adrenoreceptor agonist. Its use can relax the smooth muscles of the bronchi. It improves the mechanisms of mucociliary transport. Guaifenesin stimulates the receptors of the gastric mucosa and the secretion of respiratory tract glands. This increases the volume of bronchial secretion and reduces the viscosity.
Salbutamol contained in the drug maycause paradoxical bronchospasm, which is a life-threatening condition. In this case, immediately stop taking Ascoril and prescribe another treatment.
Ascoril can be taken by adults and children (overtwelve years) 1 tablet three times a day. Children aged six to twelve 12 years are given 0.5-1 tablets three times a day. The drug in the form of a syrup is prescribed for adults and children (over 12 years) 3 times a day for 10 ml (2 teaspoons). Children aged 6 to 12 years give 5-10 ml of syrup 3 times a day. The duration of taking the drug is determined individually.

Side effect caused by the use of ascoril

Ascoril can cause side effects thatmost often associated with the use of salbutamol. After taking the drug, there is a headache, tachycardia, tremor. A hypersensitivity reaction is rare, face swelling, hyperactivity, heart rhythm disturbances, oropharyngeal paresthesia, excessive sweating, metabolic changes (hyperglycemia, hypokalemia), insulin level in the blood can occur. After taking Ascoril, there may be disturbances in the function of the digestive tract, which are manifested by abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. In case of drug overdose, there may be excitation, rapid or depressed breathing, confusion or impaired consciousness, chest pain, arrhythmia, palpitations, severe tremor, nausea and vomiting.
In case of an overdose, symptomatic therapy and cardiac function monitoring by electrocardiography is necessary.

Contraindications to the use of ascoril

Ascoril is contraindicated in people with increasedsensitivity to the components of the drug and children under 6 years. The effects of Ascoril during pregnancy and lactation are not known. It is taken in the event that the benefits of taking the drug for the mother are higher than the negative consequences for the unborn child. While taking Ascoril, breastfeeding should be stopped. It is not recommended to take drugs containing salbutamol with other sympathomimetics, in which case cardiovascular disorders may occur.

Tip 3: "Ascoril Exporter": instructions for use

"Ascoril Exporter" - mucolytic(expectorant) drug that expands the bronchi and thereby contributes to the sputum and cramping. It is used for inflammatory diseases of the lungs, during which sputum is difficult to form and a dry or wet cough occurs.

"Ascoril Expectorant": instructions for use

Application and indications

"Ascoril Exporter" is appointed for treatmentvarious inflammatory and non-inflammatory diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract. The medicine is widely used for acute, chronic and obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, and the like. Also, the drug can be prescribed to improve sputum discharge in pulmonary tuberculosis, bronchospasm and with a dry or wet cough. The drug is used for emphysema, whooping cough and pneumoconiosis. It is forbidden to take medicine for tachyarrhythmia, myocarditis and other heart diseases. Also, the medicine is not prescribed for patients with glaucoma and hepatic or renal insufficiency. Do not take medicine for thyrotoxicosis, diabetes mellitus decompensated form, stomach ulcer and intestine.
The drug can not be administered during lactation or during pregnancy.

Dosage and side effects

In its composition, "Ascoril Exporter" containssalbutamol, bromhexine and guaifenesin. The first component reduces bronchial spasms and resistance in the airways, increases lung capacity through the improvement of blood vessels. Bromhexine provides sputum expectoration and reduces its viscosity. Guaifenesin stimulates the bronchial mucosa cells, which also affects the decrease in the viscosity of sputum and improvement of its spacing. The medicine is applied according to the instructions in the form of a syrup of 10 ml 3 times a day (2 teaspoons). Also, the drug can be prescribed to children under 6 years - 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. Children from 6 to 12 years can consume 1-2 teaspoons with the same periodicity. Among allergic reactions to the drug, hives and rashes are possible.
Also, do not take "Ascoril" at the same time with alkaline drink.
"Ascoril Expectorant" is not assigned upon admissiondrugs containing codeine, since this interaction can have a negative effect on sputum discharge. It is not recommended to take the drug with beta-blockers (propranolol).
