How to check the oil in automatic transmission "Honda"
In order to ensure the stable operation of the automatic transmission (automatic transmission) of any Honda car, it must be ensured that the oil level is always in line with the norm.
The oil level in the gearbox can be checkedif the temperature index in this unit fluctuates from thirty to eighty degrees. The principle of checking the oil level is approximately the same for all Honda cars with an automatic transmission and consists of several stages.
Oil level check stages
Before proceeding to the description of the procedure,it should be noted that the most accurate check of the oil level in the automatic transmission is possible only if the car is on an absolutely level surface. Any angle of inclination (forward, backward, left or right), when this operation is performed, is inadmissible. Before you check the oil, it is necessary to start the car engine and warm it for one to two minutes in idle mode. After this, set the selector lever to the "P" position and pull up the handbrake lever. When checking the oil level in the automatic transmission, the engine must continue to work. The oil level is checked using a special probe, the lock device of which is located in the engine compartment of the car. The next thing to do is pull out the probe, wipe it with a rag and insert it back into the hole of the lock device. This sequence of actions is necessary in order to obtain the most reliable result. Only after the probe has been pulled out again can we draw the necessary conclusions. The optimum amount of oil in the automatic transmission is when its upper level is between the "min" and "max" marks on the dipstick. It does not hurt at the same time to check the smell and appearance of the oil. If the liquid is dirty and has a strong smell of burning, this may indicate a possible malfunction in the automatic transmission control system. In case the oil level in the gearbox is below the minimum value on the dipstick, it must be refilled. For this purpose, any oil with the ATF marking (automatic transmission fluid) is suitable. When refilling, you should use a special funnel and a sieve with small cells. With insufficient oil level, it is not recommended not only to start the engine, but also to tow the car.It is important to know
The fact that the oil in the gearbox is not enough, can be recognized by the characteristic sound of a running oil pump. So, if you hear clear "sucking" sounds, it means that together with the oil, the pump sucks in the air. As a result of this process, the oil foams and when the engine is running, it is impossible to accurately check its level. In this case, turn off the engine and after a few minutes add a little oil. Re-fill should be done already with the engine running.
