Tip 1: Why did the Olympic referees deny the British gymnasts a silver medal

Olympics 2012 in London is not withoutscandals, including judicial. A considerable indignation was caused by the appeal of the Japanese national team in all-round events in men's gymnastics, completely changing the position of the teams on the podium.

Why the Olympic referees deprived the British gymnasts of a silver medal

July 30, 2012 at the Olympics in London werecompetitions in men's all-around in gymnastics. The following results were obtained: 1 place for Chinese gymnasts (275,997 points), second place for athletes from Great Britain (271,711 points) and third place for Ukraine (271,526 points). Gymnasts from Japan were only in fourth place. During the competition, the Japanese confidently went second, but two consecutive horse races left them behind the prizewinner. Ukrainian and British athletes were already preparing to celebrate success when the Japanese team protested the result. There was it already after the announcement of results, therefore sportsmen were assured of the victory. Representatives of Japan did not accept the assessment of Kohei Uchimura in the final exercise on horseback - he received 13,466 points. Despite the fact that the Japanese athlete fell from the projectile during the performance, which is considered a gross error, the judges found an opportunity to reconsider his assessment - it was raised by 0.7 points. As a result, the overall result of the Japanese team increased to 271,952 points, which allowed them to enter the second place. Thus, the gold remained with Chinese athletes, silver passed to the Japanese, and the British, having lost silver, remained with bronze. The Ukrainian gymnasts, to the great regret of the whole country, found themselves without a medal. The result of the competitions in multiathlon is estimated according to six exercises: free, base jump, bars, crossbar, rings and horse. The Chinese team is already in the second consecutive Olympiad unconditionally ranks first. Unfortunately, the Russians David Belyavsky, Denis Ablyazin, Alexander Balandin, Igor Parkhomenko and Emin Garibov took only sixth place in these competitions with a score of 269,603 points. The fans placed great hopes on them, because after the qualification competitions they were the second, but the errors in the base jump and on the horse were critical for our team.

Tip 2: Summer Olympic sports: field hockey

Although most people have hockey associated inFirst of all with ice and puck, playing with sticks and a ball on a grassy glade is an entertainment with a much longer history. In Europe of the last centuries this game was popular, perhaps, only in England, but it was enough to include it in the program of summer games soon after the revival of the Olympic movement.

Summer Olympic sports: field hockey

Field hockey first appeared on IV summerOlympics in London. It was in 1908, but to call that competition in the full sense of the tournament national teams can not be - it involved four British teams, the club-winner of the German championship and a team from France. Four British participants then and placed on the top lines of the final table. The next time, grass hockey was included in the Olympic program 8 years later, and regularly began to attend it in another eight years, starting with the summer Olympics in 1928 in Amsterdam. In the old world, this sport began to gain popularity since the middle of last century, and regular European championships were held only in 1971. In India and Pakistan, this game was developed much better, which explains the dominance of the two countries of Asia in the Olympic tournaments until 1988. From IX to XXIII Olympics, Indian hockey players received eight gold awards, once - silver and once - bronze. During this period, Pakistani citizens received three sets of gold and bronze medals and once took third place. Since 1976, grass hockey matches have been increasingly held not on a grassy meadow, but on artificial turf. This factor gave an additional impetus to the development of the sport in many countries and gradually brought to naught the advantage of India and Pakistan. Since 1988, the championships have been three times German teams, twice - Dutch, Australia, New Zealand and England were the first to win. The women's tournament began at the Olympics since 1980, and the national team of Zimbabwe won the first title of the Olympic champion. In the same year, the only time the men's and women's teams of the USSR could get to the medals - both became bronze medalists. In the history of Russian Olympians there are no awards in field hockey.
