Tip 1: How Scientists Propose to Combat Hurricanes

Tip 1: How Scientists Propose to Combat Hurricanes

Hurricane is a seasonal natural phenomenon thatIt originates over the relatively warm water surface of the seas and oceans. It is accompanied by a wind of storm force and precipitation of a large amount of precipitation. It is more correct to call this phenomenon a tropical cyclone, since it always occurs at a distance no more than half a thousand kilometers from the Earth's equator.

How scientists propose to deal with hurricanes

The tropical cyclone lasts from a few days toseveral weeks and a particular danger to the island states, although it can also extend to the surface of the continents for a distance of up to 40 kilometers. Nearly two million people died in the last two hundred years from hurricanes, which in Asia and the Far East, called typhoons. Scientists are developing a variety of ways to combat this type of cyclones of increased danger, but real success has not yet been achieved. Now there is not even an accurate understanding of the combinations of temperatures of different layers of the water surface and atmospheric pressure above the ocean necessary for the hurricane generation. Therefore, the vast majority of the proposed methods are aimed at destroying or weakening already formed tropical cyclones. For example, Israeli scientists propose to undermine the hurricane in the center of the funnel - "eye" - vacuum bombs. And experts from the University of Massachusetts in the United States believe that it is possible to fight typhoons with the help of soot. Microscopic particles of ultradisperse powder, which is the soot, absorb water. However, the resulting drops are too small to overcome the speed of the ascending streams in the hurricane and fall down in the form of rain. Therefore, they rise up and play the role of a heat exchanger, leveling the temperature difference between the lower and upper cyclone regions. And this should lead to a weakening of the speed of the vortex streams - a hurricane will lose its power and collapse faster. At a conference held in the Italian city of Trieste, a group of scientists led by Daniel Rosenfeld demonstrated a computer model of such impact. As a basis, they took the most destructive in the history of the US hurricane Katrina, which in the summer of 2005 fell on four states of this country. The computer model showed that as a result of dropping the charge of soot into the upper cloud of the tropical cyclone, the hurricane had to change the direction of travel, and the wind speed had to decrease substantially.

Tip 2: How scientists came up with a fight against hurricanes

Every year many territories are exposedthe destructive effect of hurricanes. The damage from the most powerful of them is, at times, up to several tens of billions of dollars. Scientists have long wondered how to affect the power of the hurricane, thereby reducing the figures for the amount of economic damage and the number of human lives that have become its victims.

How did scientists come up with the fight against hurricanes

The most destructive and powerful hurricanes, arisingin the ocean, fall on densely populated areas of the eastern coast of America, the Indian Ocean and the southern part of the Pacific Ocean. When calculating damage caused by them, not only the cost of destroyed buildings and structures, infrastructure and damaged transport is taken into account, but also losses from closed restaurants, shops, canceled flights. The huge sums spent each time to repair damage caused scientists to think about how to minimize this damage and the number of human casualties. British scientists from meteorologists from the University of Lida have proposed their methodology that will weaken powerful typhoons, hurricanes and cyclones that periodically rage in tropical zones of the planet. The results of their research in the summer of 2012 were published in the popular science journal Atmospheric Science Letters. It is known that a hurricane occurs due to the formation of energy of evaporation of a large amount of water from the ocean surface, the upper layers of which are heated as a result of intensive exposure to sunlight. The experiments were carried out and the effect on the power and destructive potential of the incipient hurricane was directly influenced by the temperature of the upper layers of water. It turned out that the strength of the hurricane is directly dependent on it. The authors of scientific work on the basis of the results of the studies concluded that by lowering the temperature of the water, it is possible to achieve and reduce the power of the hurricane. They proposed an elegant and simple solution to this problem: the clouds created artificially above the ocean surface will reflect the sun's rays and cool the oceanic water, thus preventing the typhoon or hurricane from accelerating to critical speeds. In their work, meteorologists used the experience of using the technology of the Marine Cloud Brightening ("clarification of sea clouds"). In this process, small vessels are involved, from which particles of water are sprayed over the ocean. Using a special chemical composition, this technology can create and artificial clouds in those areas where there is the formation of powerful cyclones and hurricanes. There are only three of them - in the North Atlantic, Indian Ocean and in the South-West Pacific. The calculations made by scientists showed that if we measure the power of a hurricane on a five-point scale, the proposed method allows it to be reduced by one step. This can only be achieved by lowering the temperature of the ocean surface by several degrees.

Tip 3: Floods, fires, earthquakes - the end of the world is near

Abnormal heat, unprecedented floods,The devastating tsunami is only a small part of what has become the harsh reality of the modern world. The researchers of the catastrophes note the anomalies that have become more frequent in the last 10-15 years around the globe. Increasingly, fatalists are talking about the approaching end of time.

Floods, fires, earthquakes - the end of the world is near

The Chronicle of Disasters

2004 - a powerful tsunami hits the banksThailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The consequences of the disaster are colossal destruction, more than 250,000 dead and missing. Year 2005 - Hurricane Katrina destroyed the blossoming multimillion-dollar American town of New Orleans. As Platonic Atlantis, the city ceased to exist for some terrible days of 2006 - large-scale earthquakes in Kamchatka with a magnitude of 9.0 and 7.8 forced to review the technology of building houses and office buildings in this region. In the period from 2000 to 2006, from the strongest earthquakes killed about 500 000 people in 2007 - a drought and a terrible ecological disaster on the African and Australian continents. Hurricane Felix, who was awarded the highest fifth category, destroyed thousands of houses in Nicaragua.
In 2007, the UN Security Council urgently convened a conference on global climate change. This unprecedented event indicates that climate change has become frightening.
2008 - a huge earthquake in the ChineseSichuan Province with a magnitude of 8 killed 69 thousand people, about 20 thousand were missing. It was the strongest earthquake of the 20th century in China. 2010 - anomalous heat on the territory of the Russian Federation provoked numerous forest fires, residential buildings and peat bogs. In some cities, from suffocating smoke people had to save themselves by a temporary move in 2011 - an earthquake in Japan with a magnitude of 9.1 became the strongest in the history of the country of the rising sun. The earthquake and tsunami caused the accident at the Fokushima nuclear power plant, which almost became the second Chernobyl in 2011-2012 - a series of floods in Thailand. The number of victims has exceeded 13 million people. In some provinces, an ecological catastrophe triggered an outbreak of epidemics of infectious diseases.

Predictions of the end of the world

All this is only a small part of what happens onEarth in the last few years. Mass suicides of whales and dolphins, changes in the migration routes of certain species of fish and birds indicate that the planet Earth is on the verge of global change. Every year, the number of temperature records, the strongest typhoons, earthquakes and tsunamis is growing steadily. Willy-nilly, the inhabitants of the city recall the predictions of John the Theologian, Nostradamus, Vanga, Edgar Cayce and other seers about the last times.
"No one knows about the day and the hour, only My Father" - Matthew 24: 36
Leaders of world religions call upon the parishioners not topanic, and turn your attention to the spiritual component of modern life. Scientists also offer to treat prophecy as a weather forecast. Nevertheless, the catastrophes that are taking place everywhere make us think: there is an increase in solar activity, the melting of polar ice, the displacement of the magnetic poles, and the flooding of some coastal areas. The reasons for this can be very different, among others, the anthropogenic factor, the natural periodic renewal of the planet and the impact of the Sun are voiced. Which version is true still remains a mystery. Humanity has already experienced terrible catastrophes in former times. About these events narrate the legends of the peoples of India, China, the indigenous American population, island states. But the most famous source is the Old Testament - the legend of the World Flood. It remains to be hoped that people have considered the experience of past generations and the upcoming cataclysms, although they will change the geographical and political map of the world, but still give the person another chance to rebuild the world.

Tip 4: For what the director of Yahoo News is fired

David Chelian, director of the Washington Bureau of Yahoo News at the end of August 2012 was fired with a scandal. The reason for this was the unsuccessful joke, dropped by Celian on the air.

For which the director of Yahoo News is fired

An unpleasant incident occurred during theInternet broadcast of the popular TV channel ABC. The hosts together with the guests of the program discussed the hurricane "Isaac", which hit the state of Louisiana, in connection with which there was declared a state of emergency. At the same time, in the city of Tampa, Florida, a congress of the Republican Party was held, headed by Mitt Romney, a candidate for the presidency of the United States. In this regard, David Celian allowed himself a joke, saying that "they (meaning Romney and his party) are happy to have fun in Florida, while the blacks are drowning." The Yahoo response was immediate. Immediately after the unsuccessful joke of his subordinate, the management of the company apologized to Mitt Romney and members of the Republican Party, their supporters and anyone who could in any way be affected by the words spoken on the air, saying that Chelian's opinion was not the official view of the company. The director himself was immediately dismissed, which was announced separately. Yahoo claims that in the future will not cooperate with the guilty employee. The scandal's owner also apologized for his unsuccessful pun on the air. He published them on his personal Facebook page. David Celian claimed that in no way did he want to offend Mitt Romy and his supporters. His goal was simply to laugh at the situation. Also, the former director of the Washington Bureau of Yahoo News apologized to the governor and wife of Rumi. Asked forgiveness Celian and the management of Yahoo, who had to take his mind off his irresponsible act. Meanwhile, the incident did not affect the reputation of the politician. According to the latest data, the popularity of Rumi keeps at the same level - he was equal to Barack Obama by the number of preliminary votes.

Tip 5: How to protect your home from a hurricane

Hurricane - one of the most dangerous naturalphenomena. It occurs all over the world and can easily cause serious harm to an unprotected home. There are several precautions that anyone can take to protect their home from this threat. Some of them need to be taken care of long before the start of the hurricane season, while other measures can be taken after its completion.

How to protect your house from a hurricane

You will need

  • Stairs, tools for pruning trees, measuring tape, feather, paper, special blinds, plywood, fastening tools, drill, black marker, shockproof garage doors

Instructions

1

Protect your house from falling branches and trees. Examine carefully all the trees surrounding the house. Cut off all the dried branches, or the whole tree.

2

Strengthen the windows and doors of the house.Open windows and doors during a hurricane can lead to a significant increase in damage from natural disasters, and are also capable of threatening the very structure of the building. You can purchase specially designed hurricane blinds for windows and doors in your house, or make them yourself from a thick sheet of plywood. Remove the exact dimensions from each window and doorway, cutting out the required number of plywood panels. Use the black marker to apply the dimensions. With the help of a drill, set the panels to their destination. Remove the panels. Store them in an easily accessible place so that you can install them in place as quickly as possible.

3

Garage protection. If the garage door or gate has been installed by a specialized company, read the passport that is being transferred to them. In the passport must necessarily indicate the strength of the wind and the pressure rating. If the door does not meet local requirements, replace it.

4

Remove all loose objects around your home. This procedure should be done as soon as you hear about the storm warning. Remove the pool, vases, urns, toys, etc.
