Creation of a thermonuclear reactor

Mankind has long sought an alternativesource of energy. But all available sources: light, water, wind can not give the necessary amount of energy to reduce the share of TPPs and nuclear power plants. Such a source of energy can be thermonuclear fusion.

The essence of this energy source is very simple. It is necessary to connect two nuclei of hydrogen atoms and to form the nucleus of the helium atom with the release of a huge amount of energy. But in order to connect the two nuclei, it is necessary to heat the hydrogen to a plasma state of several million degrees.

There is a "small problem" - on the ground nonesubstance can not withstand a temperature of more than 10,000 ° C. Scientists have found a way out of this situation. They learned how to keep the heated plasma in a magnetic field.

But everything was not so easy, plasma is a very unstable substance, which strives to jump out of the magnetic circuit or spreads over its walls, while cooling.

In 1985, Russia initiated the creationthermonuclear reactor. A number of countries joined this initiative and a project was created. At the moment, active construction has begun in France. The project already involved Russia, the United States, the EU countries, Japan, India, the Republic of Korea and Kazakhstan. The project is scheduled for launch in 2020.

However, during the construction period, science has gone ahead. Every year new versions of thermonuclear reactors are being developed. So the company Lockheed Martin, the creator of the famous bomber Nighthawk, announced the development of a new type of thermonuclear stations. According to Lockheed Martin experts, in 5 years the company will produce reactors the size of a car body and the capacity sufficient to meet the needs of the average city.

If this is true, but not a PR action, then humanity will receive a huge amount of inexhaustible cheap energy. The role of hydrocarbons will be reduced at times and hard times may come for Russia.
