2014 FIFA World Cup: organization and regulations



The 2014 FIFA World Cup is already the 20ththe account of the world football tournament of the FIFA League, the final games of which will be held in Brazil from June 12 to July 13, 2014. The first match opening the tournament will be held in São Paulo at the Corinthians Arena, and the final will be held in Rio de Janeiro at the Maracana stadium.

Choose the venue

According to the rules of rotation of the continents according toholding the world championships, the 2014 football tournament was to be held in South America, where the only candidate was Brazil, since all other candidate countries supported her candidacy. True, some attempts to compete with Brazil were expressed by Colombia, but her candidacy was unequivocally rejected, as this country irresponsibly approached the organization of the 1986 World Cup and could not cope with its obligations, and the championship was held again in Mexico.

Tournament emblem

The official symbol of the World Cup2014 was the emblem called "Inspiration", the project of which was developed by the Brazilian agency Africa. This emblem was presented to the commission during the World Football Championship in 2010 at the ceremony in Johannesburg.

The official ball of the tournament on the basis of the vote among the fans was the ball from Adidas called Brazuca.

The participants

In the final stage of the world football tournamentwill take part in a total of 32 teams (hostess of the championship - Brazil and 31 teams, released in the finals after the qualifying round). The Brazilian national team will open the championship on June 12 in Sao Paulo. In the final tournament were all 8 teams, which previously could already win the title of world champion in football, with the national team from Bosnia and Herzegovina out of the final stage for the first time. Qualifying rounds of the World Cup 2014 started on June 15, 2011, and ended on November 20, 2013.

Regulations

All participants of the world tournament were divided into 8 groups of 4 teams in each of them. The distribution of teams by groups took place on the basis of the drawing of lots.

Group A: Cameroon, Brazil, Mexico, Croatia.

Group B: The Netherlands, Spain, Australia, Chile.

Group C: Greece, Colombia, Japan, Côte d'Ivoire.

Group D: England, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Italy.

Group E: Ecuador, Switzerland, Honduras, France.

Group F: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Argentina, Nigeria, Iran.

Group G: Portugal, Germany, USA, Ghana.

Group H: Russia, Algeria, Belgium, Republic of Korea.

The teams that took 1st and 2nd place in each group will reach the 1/8 finals of the championship. The position of national teams in the standings will be determined by the following indicators:

  • the number of points scored in the group in all matches of the group tournament;
  • the difference between scored and missed balls;
  • the total number of goals scored.

If on all three indicators two or more teams score equal points, the result of the game between these teams will be taken into account.

In the 1/8 finals, the winners, who took the first place in the group, will play with the teams that took the 2nd place. The losing team is eliminated from the World Cup.
