Sports acrobatics as a sport

From the history of sports acrobatics

Sports acrobatics took shape inindependent sport in 1932. This happened at the 10th Olympic Games, when acrobatic jumps for men entered the gymnastics competition program as a separate sport. After that, acrobatics competitions began in different countries: the USA, Great Britain, etc. In the USSR, acrobatics separated from gymnastics only in the late 1930s - the first championship was held in 1939. Among women, the competition began in 1940, and the first youth competitions were held in 1951. The first world champions in sport acrobatics in individual competition were revealed at the World Championships in Moscow in 1974. They were 13 athletes from the USSR. And the first World Cup was played a year later in Switzerland. Now the International Acrobatics Federation is a member of the International Federation of Gymnastics, and it carries a number of problems concerning the presentation of sports acrobatics at the Olympic Games. The geography of this sport is not as wide as it is necessary for its inclusion in the Games program.

Competition

Competitions in sports acrobatics includethe following types of performances: acrobatic jumps (female and male), exercises in pairs (male, female or mixed), group exercises (for women - three together, for men - four together). In each kind of performances, athletes include in the program two compulsory exercises and two arbitrary: in jumps - different types of flips, in group and pair performances - static and tempo exercises. All performances according to the standards accepted in gymnastics are judged. Youth competitions are held in three age groups: from 11 to 16, from 12 to 18, from 13 to 19 years. It should be noted that couples or groups that competed in one of these categories can not act in parallel in another age category, even if they are suitable for it. Also competitions are held among adults, and those athletes who previously participated in junior competitions, in parallel to compete in adult competitions, too, can not.

Training in sports acrobatics

Start sports acrobatics better inearly childhood, when there are no psychological barriers and fears, and the body is plastic, flexible and easily stretchable. Then there are more chances to learn acrobatic elements and exercises, and then to compete in competitions. Naturally, for this, the child must be engaged under the guidance of an experienced mentor in a children's and youth sports school. Some athletes come to acrobatics not in early childhood or go into it from another sport and, nevertheless, achieve great results. Like in many other sports, it all depends on the natural capabilities of the body, nature, desire and motivation. Traumas and pains in sports acrobatics, as well as in general in sports, are not ruled out. However, most often injuries do not come from performing a complicated element, but because of insufficient warming up of the muscles, lack of insurance from the partner or failure to comply with the requirements of the coach. In general, this sport is not considered traumatic.
