Tip 1: How to relax in the Kamchatka Valley of Geysers

The valley of geysers in Kamchatka is called one of themiracles of Russia. This is a unique place in Eurasia of a cluster of geysers (fountains of hot springs). UNESCO has made the Kamchatka valley a natural heritage site.

How to relax in the Kamchatka Valley of Geysers

The unique Kamchatka Valley of Geysers wasrelatively recently. In 1941, the geologist Tatiana Ivanovna Ustinova, examining the reserve, drew attention to the fact that in one of the rivers the water temperature is much higher. She sat down to rest, and immediately a fountain of boiling water and steam escaped from a barely noticeable thawed patch. This geyser was later called "Firstborn". So the Kamchatka Valley of Geysers was discovered. In the world, besides Kamchatka, geysers are in three places: in Iceland, New Zealand and the USA. But the Kamchatka valley is special - here, in a small area (only about 2 km 2), most of the known types of thermal sources (thermal areas, mud boilers, hot springs, waterfalls, etc.) are collected. The valley is located in a stone canyon of volcanic origin in the territory of the Kronotsky Reserve. At the confluence of the two rivers Shumnaya and Geysernoy there are more than 20 large springs and many small ones that spout from time to time and throw out almost boiling water (about 95 ° C) and clouds of steam. In a unique valley in Kamchatka, tourists were drawn, and in the 60-70s of the last century, because of the barbarous attitude of people, it began to perish gradually. Therefore, in the late 70-ies the tourist route to the Valley of Geysers was closed. However, in the 1990s, the infrastructure of the valley was put in order. Tourists from all over the world once again had the opportunity to admire the unique nature reserve. In 2007, a natural catastrophe occurred in the Valley of Geysers. The mudflows and landslides from snow, water, lumps and smaller debris literally buried the Valley under them. Under the sediments were geysers, thermal areas, waterfalls. The media reported the death of a unique natural object. But gradually, under the influence of the sun, moisture and wind, clay and volcanic tuff began to collapse, the collapsed masses began to overgrow, and the sources find new exits to the surface. The valley of the geysers began to recover. As a result of the disaster, the riverbed of the Geysernaya river changed and a new lake with a constant temperature of turquoise water was formed. All this allowed to conduct ecological excursions, which describe the causes of natural disasters, as well as the close relationship between man and wildlife. You can get to the Valley of Geysers only by helicopter, which is ordered when recruiting a group and is not cheap. The flight lasts about 2 hours (there and back). During the flight, you can see taiga, mountain rivers and lakes, mountains and volcanoes. A helicopter land in the Valley of Geysers on a special site, from where a walking tour to the springs takes place. A hiking trail passes through the central part of the valley, where you can observe active and pulsating geysers, steam jets, hot lakes and other forms of hydrothermal springs. After a walk, a picnic is usually arranged.
