How to apply for maternity leave in Ukraine
Decent leave, i.e. maternity leave in Ukraine is provided not only to those who have a permanent place of work, but also to students, entrepreneurs and even the unemployed. He is issued on a sick leave sheet starting from the thirtieth week of pregnancy.

Duration of leave fixed: 126 days, of which 70 accounted for the period before delivery and 56 - after childbirth. However, if you have less vacation days before the birth, the total duration of vacation does not change, and the prescribed days are added to the days of vacation after childbirth. If you have two or more children, or if there were any complications during childbirth (which you can prove documented), then vacation is increased to 140 days, and for privileged categories of citizens (in particular, Chernobyl victims) - up to 180.

In order to go on leave before childbirth, you need to register with a woman's consultation or a polyclinic, otherwise you will only receive a sick leave sheet from the time of delivery.

If you work officially, on a laborcontract, leave you will be paid at a rate of 100% of your average income (salary) for the last six months. That is, the employer will calculate your average daily (or hourly) salary and multiply by the number of days (hours) of vacation.

To get a vacation benefit, you needcome to the personnel department and bring the appropriate statement and sick leave that you must give out on the thirtieth week, with which your maternity leave began.

You must pay the decree entirely (it does not matter,how many days you got before giving birth) on the next day of the salary. The enterprise will then receive this amount back from the state social fund.

If you study, the maternity will be given to you inamount of a monthly scholarship. Unemployed people registered at the employment center receive maternity allowances in the amount of unemployment benefits. At the same time, having received money on a sick leave, you will be taken off the register in the employment center.

Remember that under the law you can not be fired forcause of pregnancy, which extends to the entire time of maternity leave. The only possible case is the liquidation of the enterprise, but even in this case you can be fired only with compulsory employment. Also you can not be demoted and paid.
