How freight forwarders work
The freight forwarder has various duties independing on the place of work. Only a few conditions remain indispensable: escorting cargo and documentation from the place of shipment to the destination of the goods being transported.
The forwarder is one of the most sought-afteroccupations in the labor market. Timely and quality delivery is especially necessary for those cargoes that have a limited shelf life. The branch of the national economy in which the freight forwarder operates is called logistics. The subject of logistics is to study, develop and apply in practice the most rational approach to the process of moving goods to small, medium and long distances. Logistics also provides for the study of local and international legislation in the field of cargo transportation. After all, in different regions of the world there are often very diverse requirements for transportation. The professional freight forwarder also participates in the development of cargo transportation routes. Most often such a specialist is called a logist, which is most true in determining this profession.
Freight forwarder's profession in the modern labor market
A freight forwarder is sometimes called a person, accompanying the consignment all along its route of transportation and responsible for the safety and integrity of the goods entrusted to it. On the fact of such an employee is more correct to call a courier, but in job advertisements the vacancy is more often called the freight forwarder. Such a definition is typical in view of the fact that the courier-forwarder most often determines the route of cargo movement by prior agreement with the management of his company. The main document used by forwarders in their work is a bill of lading in which data on the time and place of shipment of goods are recorded, paragraph purpose, face value and weight. The signature of the forwarder in the consignment note is evidence that the goods are properly packaged and have no visible defects. From the moment the transport bill is signed by the freight forwarder, the employee in this position is fully liable in accordance with the country's legislation and his personal employment contract. The freight forwarder rarely has the right to receive cash for the delivered goods. Such a measure is valid for security reasons of the freight forwarder itself, because the route of cargo transportation may well be an attempt at robbery. Forwarder and related professions
In some organizations there are postsdriver-forwarder or sales representative with the function of the freight forwarder. Similar professions are provided by firms sending goods within the region or specializing in the transportation of the same goods for short distances. Due to small turnover of funds or low value of goods, employers have come up with similar occupations that do not violate the law. The duties of the freight forwarder include the development of the route, delivery and responsibility for the cargo, and the sales representative with the duties of the freight forwarder not only develops the customer base himself and concludes contracts, but also directly delivers the cargo himself.
