Tip 1: How to reduce the width of the doorway

Often there is a situation when it turns out thatThe doorway is too wide for a new door. Coping with this problem can be done in a variety of ways, including using masonry, gypsum plaster sheets or other materials. The simplest and most economical option is to reduce the width of the opening, by building up the side walls with gypsum board.

Expansion of the doorway with plasterboard

You will need

  • - drywall;
  • - Starting and bearing profile;
  • - glue;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - Drill;
  • - putty.

Instructions

1

To apply this method,that the thickness of the wall plaster should be slightly larger than the gypsum plasterboard sheet. On the side where the walls will be built up, part of the plastered surface will be removed in the places where the fastening will be made. The cleaned wall should be well dried and treated with a primer.

2

Before you start, you must domarkup. To do this, the aluminum rule is applied along the doorway and a line is drawn with a pencil, which serves as a continuation of the wall. The same line is drawn from the other side of the opening. At the right distance, perpendicularly made markings indicate the place where the edge of the future build-up will be located. When carrying out calculations it is necessary to take into account the thickness of drywall sheets.

3

Based on the markup done calculationsthe exact size of the required parts of the drywall sheet. After that, cut lines are cut, measuring roulette measurements and transferring them to the surface. After that, the metal rule or any other tool, having the form of a ruler, is tightly pressed against the gypsum and with a sharp knife several times are carried out at the place of the cut, pressing it down to a depth of 2-3 mm. Then the sheet is turned upside down and with some effort breaks, slightly pulling to itself one of the sides. Cut the fastening paper, carefully work the end of the material with a sharp knife or blade to give it evenness.

4

Further, to the desired dimensions,profiles and guides. The latter are mounted to the floor and upper slope, trying to do this as accurately as possible on the markings. On the wall and the guides are applied glue, trying to ensure that its layer is thick enough - this will ensure high reliability of the future design. Prepared strips of drywall are tightly pressed to the places of gluing, using the rule for this. They simultaneously press the sheets on both sides of the doorway.

5

After that, the guides andinsert carrier profiles. If necessary, use mortgages from a wooden bar when securing. Drywall is finally fixed to the slopes with the help of self-tapping screws, and the formed slots are closed with plaster mortar or putty. After that, it remains only to sand and prime gypsum plasterboard parts and conduct decorative works - paste wallpaper and install platbands.

Tip 2: How to reduce the doorway

Remodeling an apartment, and any repairsforce us to acquire new knowledge about how to change our own home. Quite complex, at first glance, operations are now performed by many owners of apartments, using a minimum of improvised means. The main thing here is to know the order of actions and clearly observe it. One of the simple and affordable to almost any owner of the apartment works is to reduce the doorway.

How to reduce the doorway

Instructions

1

Remove the door from the hinges and disconnect all kinds of pins, slats, shock absorbers and other devices that were present on your door. Also remove the old door base.

2

Clean the walls from the plaster so that you have brickwork, a panel wall or a plasterboard wall in front of you, depending on the type of your building. Then begins the process of building a wall.

3

Mark with a pencil and a meter, where and how will the new door be. Measure the new door and leave half a centimeter, so that the door can be easily closed.

4

Measure the indent on the width of the plasterboard, if youdo not depend on the size of the new door, but on the material you have. After closing the door and rebuilding the wall, you can order a door for the resulting size.

5

Attach the new profile accurately. Be careful with the door-compartment, where the profiles are on both sides of the door - the difference in half a centimeter can already be critical.

6

Soak the wall and give it properly.dry. After it is ready to work, start gluing the plasterboard. The usual building glue is quite suitable to glue two strips of this material.

7

Install the load-bearing profiles in the new wall and secure them. If necessary, use bars for fixing.

8

Screw the drywall to the slope of the opening and seal the cracks in the joint. After that, the wall can be covered with a new layer of plaster and ready to install the door.

Tip 3: How to install arches expanders

Agree that the arches make the room special: they create the illusion of space. However, when it comes to the arrangement of a doorway with non-standard dimensions, without arches with expanders can not do.

How to install arches expanders

You will need

  • - Nail finder;
  • - a hammer;
  • - hacksaw with small denticles;
  • - measuring device;
  • - nageli;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - Screwdriver;
  • - level;
  • - Arched kit with expanders.

Instructions

1

Prepare an opening where the arch with the expander will be installed. To do this, remove the door frame beforehand using a nail and a hammer.

2

Collect one side of the arch: it is not difficult to do this, because in standard arches there are dowels.

3

Knowing the width of the doorway and the dimensions of the standardarch, calculate the required length of the reducer. Then set aside on the arch expander this length and saw off the corresponding part of the digger. With nagels, fasten the arch expander between the individual elements of the arch.

4

After assembling one side of the arch, attach it to the doorway on the screws using a screwdriver.

5

Adjust the trim for the length of the opening. To do this, measure the distance from the archway of the arch to the floor or from the horizontal marking to the floor. In the event that the design of the arch involves the use of additional decorative elements, for example, side squares, the height of the clypeus is reduced by the length of the decorative insert. After the necessary length of the casing is determined, put it aside and shorten the platbands if necessary.

6

Installing the platbands on one side of the opening,insert the inside of the arch arch. However, before you adjust the inner filling plates: the width of the filling is equal to the width of the wall with an additional allowance of 10 millimeters (this stock is necessary for fixing the plates in grooves). To hide the cracks between the vertical plates and the horizontal inner plate, install the docking bar.

7

By analogy, collect the second part of the arch arch andattach it to the second side of the opening. Make sure that the arch is set exactly and its four elements lie in the same plane: to do this, use the level to measure the angles and the horizontal.
