Tip 1: How to change the bottom

Tip 1: How to change the bottom

In the summer, roads are often repaired, and in winter sprinkled with salt. All this has a negative effect on the car, causing corrosion on bottom, in the same place dents, scratches, and even breakouts in metal are formed. Further trips on such a car become extremely unsafe, so this problem requires an immediate solution.

How to change the bottom

You will need

  • Sheets of metal (preferably galvanized or stainless steel), Bulgarian, sealant, drill, rivet device, grinder and anti-corrosion agents.

Instructions

1

Carry out a number of preparatory works. Wash the car thoroughly and dry it in the open air. A clean machine is much easier to repair, especially with bottomm. Release the salon car from the seats, rugs and all unnecessary. Arrange the equipment in a convenient place to work.

2

First, carefully examine bottom and identify the nature of the problem. If these are normal dents, then simply make holes and on the reverse side tap the metal so that it snaps into place. If bottom attacked rust, then here you have to spend a little more time and effort.

3

Ask someone to help, because somework will require a second pair of hands. Alone, you can, and can, but spend a lot of time. Remove all foreign parts for the duration of the work, which will interfere with the replacement of the bottom.

4

Bulgarian cut out the bottom sections, which struck corrosion. Do not regret the metal, do not leave rust, as in time it will spread, and the repair will have to be repeated. Appreciate your time.

5

From sheets of metal cut so-called "latches"- patches, which will be closed holes. The blanks are made with an allowance of 2 centimeters on each side. Make four holes for the rivets around the perimeter of the patches. Then attach a sheet of metal to the hole and solder it. After that, put the rivets and carefully grind the edges of the grinder.

6

Do not forget to treat the joints with a sealant,for example, an epoxy resin. And the last step is to perform anti-corrosion treatment of the metal and return the dismantled parts. After such repairs, the car will serve several more years. But if you need a warranty and better repair, then it makes sense to go to the salon.

Tip 2: How to change the handbrake cable to a vase

The most common reasons for the replacement of handbrake cables(or parking brake) are their clipping, pulling or seizing inside the shells. In order to understand if it is necessary to change the handbrake cables or not, do the following diagnostics: pull the parking brake cables and find a hill with a steep gradient (up to 25% inclusive). Stop the car on this hill and lift the lever of the handbrake as far as possible. If your car begins to roll back, and you are sure of the serviceability of the brake mechanisms of the rear wheels, then the problem is in the cables of the parking brake.

how to change a handbrake cable to a vase

You will need

  • - two new handbrake cables;
  • - wheel chocks;
  • - lift or pit;
  • - jack;
  • - Support racks;
  • - a standard wheel wrench or a wrench with a head for "17", or a key-cross for "17";
  • - two keys for "13";
  • - the spanner or head to "10";
  • - Slotted screwdriver;
  • - the spanner or the hexagonal head on the "7".

Instructions

1

The principle of operation of the parking brake system,used on VAZ cars, on the whole has not changed since the release of the first car VAZ-2101 ("penny"). The lever of the handbrake is connected to two cables, respectively, to the brake mechanisms of the left rear and right rear wheels. When you lift the lever lever up, you pull the parking brake cables. The cables, in turn, move the drive lever located in the brake mechanisms of the rear wheels. As a result, the brake pads come into motion due to the movement of the drive lever and abut the drums of the rear wheels, fixing them in one position.

2

With the replacement of the parking brake cables you will become familiar with the example of the VAZ-2170 (Priora). Be sure to simultaneously replace two handbrake cables.

3

Place wheel chocks under the wheels. Loosen the bolts of the left rear and right rear wheels using the standard wheel key or the key with the crown to "17" (you can use the cross-key to "17"). Turn on the first gear. Move the lever lever to the lowest position. Remove the chocks. Pick up the car on the lift. If you lift the car with a jack, fix it on the two support posts. Turn off completely the bolts of the rear wheels and remove the wheels.

4

Start by replacing the left cable. While holding the parking brake lever adjusting nut on the "13" key, use a key of the same size to unscrew the lock nut. Then unscrew the adjusting nut using the key on the "13".

5

Remove the cable equalizer from the link of the lever of the hand lever and pull out the front handpiece of the handbrake cables from the equalizer. Pull out the left cable cover tip from the bracket.

6

Now head or key to "10" unscrew itfully nuts securing the bracket to the rear axle beam and withdraw the parking brake cable sheath from it. Pull the cable from the holder to the bracket for securing the rear axle beam.

7

Look carefully at the bottom of the car. You will see the bracket that holds the handbrake cable. Take the slotted screwdriver, unbolt the bracket and pull the cable out of the holder. Another brace is located on the bottom of the car in front of the fuel tank. Pull the cable out of it.

8

Folding key with "7" or hexagonal highhead to "7" unscrew the two guide pin of the wheel and remove the brake drum of the left rear wheel. Look carefully at the brake mechanism. You will see how the cable of the hand lever is engaged by the parking brake lever. Disconnect the rear end of the cable from the parking brake lever. Pull the tip of the handlebar cable from the hole in the brake control panel and remove the left cable.

9

Perform the same operation, remove the right cable handbrake. Install new cables in the reverse order.

10

When you have finished installing new cables, adjustparking brake. To do this, take the two keys to "13" and, holding the adjusting nut with the wrench, slightly unscrew the lock nut. Now rotate the adjusting nut clockwise and tighten the handbrake cables. Having finished adjustment, fix a counternut an adjusting nut. Check that the rear wheels rotate freely when the hand lever is lowered to its lowest position.
