How to enable gadgets on Vista
Windows Vista was the first system from Microsoft,which received support for gadgets. To perform the operations of managing all sorts of functional applets and including them, a special section of the operating system is used. In Vista, a separate sidebar is used to display the items.

Vista Sidebar contains severalmini-applications that help you view the computer's status and memory usage, see the weather forecast, news or run all sorts of mini-games. A standard set contains several gadgets that can be added through a Microsoft server on the Internet.

To enable applets, go to the system section"Start" - "All Programs" - "Standard" - "Windows Sidebar". You can open the panel by using the special icon in the system notification area. Also, the gadget panel can be started by pressing the Win and G keys of the keyboard.

Elements placed on the panel candrag and resize. Each applet can be moved from the panel to the free desktop area for more convenient access. After transferring the desired gadget, you can hide the sidebar by clicking on the corresponding icon at the top of the window, while the copied application remains on the desktop.

To close the panel, right-clickmouse in the notification area at the bottom right of the screen on the Windows Sidebar icon. In the context menu that appears, click the Exit option. This operation will close all running gadgets and remove the panel from the desktop.

To add an item to the sidebarright-click on it, and then click Add Mini-Application. Also, the addition can be made using the corresponding icon in the upper right of the screen. In the opened collection of mini-applications you can select the applet you need by clicking on it twice with the pointer.

To download new gadgets, go to the"Gallery of mini-applications" and select "Find on the Internet". To search for a suitable applet, you can use the search bar at the top right of the window.
