How to split a disk on a Windows 8 computer
The creators of the Windows 8 operating systemThe built-in function of hard disk partitioning is provided. Now you do not need to download a separate software, everything is done by standard Windows tools.

- - Free space on the hard disk.

Right-click on "Start" and select "Manage hard drives."

In the window that appears, select the disk that you want toyou would like to split, right-click on it, and then click "Compress Volume". After that, the system will determine how much space can be allocated for the new partition.

The system will issue its calculation in a new window. In the "Compressed space size" field, enter the size of the new partition, and then click the "Compress" button. The process of allocating space can take several minutes.

After these actions you will have a new, not distributed area. You need to right-click on it and select "Create a simple volume".

The Create Simple Volumes Wizard dialog box appears. Here you should first click the "Next" button, then enter the size of the simple volume in the corresponding field and click "Next" again.

The next step is to select the letter designation for the new section.

Finally, select the file system format (NTFS by default), click "Next" and "Finish".
