Which ultrasound in pregnancy is better: conventional or 3D

Ultrasound is an indispensablea diagnostic technique that allows you to monitor the course of pregnancy and fetal development. Every year more and more popular is 3D-ultrasound, thanks to which parents can see the three-dimensional image of the baby.

Instructions

1

Ultrasound is a routine examination that shouldpass every pregnant woman, according to the order of pregnancy. Mandatory ultrasound screening of the future mother is at least three times during the waiting period of the baby: in the first, second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Ultrasonic screening is one of the most informative and safe methods of research. With its help, it is possible to monitor the growth and development of a child without harm to health, monitor the course of pregnancy, and timely record the developmental and pathological features of internal organs.

2

Thanks to modern technology, futureparents can see not only a black and white snapshot of a conventional two-dimensional ultrasound, but also a three-dimensional image of the child as a result of 3D research. Some women believe that 3D ultrasound is more informative than an ordinary two-dimensional study. In fact, the only advantage of 3D-ultrasound is the opportunity to see a three-dimensional photograph of the baby in the womb and study its appearance in all its details, right down to the movement of facial muscles. Three-dimensional ultrasound is not an obligatory diagnostic procedure, parents pass it on their own. The most important method of diagnosis in obstetrics and gynecology is always the usual 2D-ultrasound.

3

Standard ultrasound, inthe difference from 3D-ultrasound, lasts no longer than 10-15 minutes. The effectiveness of the procedure does not depend on the duration of pregnancy and the position of the fetus in the uterus. Three-dimensional ultrasound lasts at least 45 minutes, and its results depend largely on the period of pregnancy. In the early stages of 3D-ultrasound does not make sense: most often future mothers undergo this procedure at the beginning of the third trimester, when the birth of the child remains no more than two months.

4

Ability to examine in detail the appearance of the babyallows you to diagnose some external malformations or, if you have doubts, make sure that the child is properly developed. A clear volumetric visualization allows you to carefully consider all parts of the fetal body in three projections. The study is absolutely safe: by the power and intensity of ultrasonic waves, 3D ultrasound does not differ from the usual two-dimensional one. The main advantage of the three-dimensional ultrasound study is the opportunity to see the baby before birth, to study his facial expressions and facial features, to get a digital photo that will take a worthy place in the family album.
