What are the climatic zones in Russia

The nature of the climate at every point of the globeis formed under the influence of many different factors, such as the level of heat and humidity, the direction of air masses. Territories with similar climatic conditions are extensive, they are conditionally united in zones - climatic belts of the Earth.

What are the climatic zones in Russia

Most states are located within a single climatic zone. The territory of Russia is so large that on its expanses one can observe several climatic zones at once.
On the territory of Russia, only the tropical and equatorial climatic zones are not represented.

Cold climatic zones

The Arctic climatic zone coversthe coast of the Arctic Ocean and the nearby islands. This is the coldest of the climatic zones of Russia. Arctic climate is characterized by low winter temperatures - up to minus 35 degrees, and summer - not higher than plus five degrees of temperature. There is very little heat here, and during the long polar night does not arrive at all. Warm air masses entering the arctic zone in the summer allow to partially melt the ice and snow cover, warm up to positive temperatures the air coming from the ocean. The sub-climatic zone covers Western Siberia and the northeast of Russia. Here the winter is softer - the average winter temperature here is about 18 degrees below zero. Summer is longer, which allows air to warm up to 10 degrees of heat. The European part of Russia, as well as the Far East, Western and Eastern Siberia are located in the temperate climatic zone. The climate of the temperate belt is very diverse both throughout the year, and depending on the geographic location from west to east. That is why the temperate climatic zone is further divided into conditional climatic zones: continental, moderately continental, sharply continental, monsoon. In all zones there is a fairly sharp change in weather conditions, depending on the season.

Moderate climatic zones

Moderate continental climate is distinguished by roastsummer and frosty winter. Temperature fluctuations in this part of the belt are observed in the range from minus 30 to plus 30 degrees. In the continental zone, the climate is slightly more even, mixing tropical and arctic air masses very often, which provokes a rather high level of precipitation both in summer and winter. The rarest continental zone is characterized by the least amount of precipitation in the temperate zone. Here the most pronounced seasonal differences in weather conditions: winters are very cold, summers are hot.
In the sharply continental zone there is a taiga.
A characteristic feature of the monsoon zoneof the temperate zone is the high mobility of air masses, which result in strong winds - monsoons, sometimes provoking the formation of typhoons, the emergence of floods. The climate in this zone is very humid, with cool summers and low temperatures - up to 40 degrees below zero - in winter temperatures.
