What is environmental risk?
What is environmental risk?
Ecological risk is the assessment of the probability of occurrence of negative changes in the environment. Such changes can be triggered by anthropogenic influences on the natural environment.
Usually, before starting an organizationa mandatory environmental risk assessment is carried out. Often a scientific study is carried out for this purpose, combining the study of scientific forecasts and real facts.
Rules for permissible environmental risk
When conducting environmental risks, it should betake into account certain rules of permissible environmental risk. These include: - inevitable losses of the natural environment, - minimal losses in the natural environment, - the likelihood of restoring environmental losses, - the comparability of the economic effect of project implementation with environmental harm. By the way, environmental risk is not always the most dangerous for human life. There are other risks of harm to health. Classification of environmental risks
There are five main types of environmentalrisks. The subject of individual environmental risk can be considered a person. It is his sources of life and are sources of risk. As a result of individual environmental risk, a person can be caused death or disability. All technical systems and objects should be called a subject of technical risk. Very often it is the imperfection of technology that leads to accidents and catastrophes. Violation of the rules for the operation of such facilities will necessarily lead to negative consequences. Often, environmental systems are also subject to environmental risk. The source of environmental risk can be called human intervention in environmental conditions. Under the object of social environmental risk is a well-established social group. Accordingly, the source is the decline in the quality of life and some kind of emergency. As a result, extremely undesirable events can occur in a social group. These are diseases and group traumas. Often the material risk is also an object of environmental risk. Economic risk determines the likelihood of increased costs for safety and environmental damage from inadequate security. In fact, work on environmental risk assessment involves discussing possible environmental damage and some economic losses as a result of certain events. This is a very serious scientific work that can only be carried out by environmental professionals.
